Morning all! ☺
I'd like to start off this update by wishing all my fellow retro - riders a very happy new year!
Right, so I haven't been on this thread for a few months now but those of you who are friends of mine on Facebook and followers on instagram, will have seen my little golf undertake a few changes as of late and I thought it was about time I updated my build thread, so here goes!...
I'll start with the last decent picture I got of the golf before I took it off the road...
Then shortly after putting it away, I bought some parts from ElWoody and arranged to collection from Utterpiffel so big thank you to you guys! ☺
So I tricked my mum in to a lovely day trip to the seaside, on the condition she drives and I navigate... I did tell her we were parts collecting 5 minutes from our destination,
Had a nice chat with Chris, picked up the parts, went round the town, had a nice lunch and then a steady drive back home.
And here's what I picked up...
very happy with the parts! Thanks again guys!
Then I decided to treat the golf to some new wheels as the standard wheels just didn't cut the mustard!
I looked at banded steels, xxr etc etc...
I finally decided to get some Extreme Offset Wheels in white 8J 0ET form, after a biblical wait... THEY ARRIVED!
AND HERE THEY ARE!
So within minutes, I was in the garage for a test fit...
Hmm... bit wide...
Clearly some arch work will be required...
ANYWAY back to that later...
I decided that the springs I bought from Utterpiffel weren't low enough so, I jumped back on ebay and got me some JOE coilovers (main aim is to end up with AVO or something similar)...
Please excuse my camel toe tattoo... got it in ibiza, good idea at the time... not really! Haha
Then some tyres arrived! 165/45/15! No pics I'm afraid!
Anyway, whilst at work, my dad shot down in his ever trusty volvo and got the tyres fitted!(with a great deal of effin' and blindin' so I'm told)
Got them back home, slapped the coilovers on, wound them down and here's how it looked... (also went to Leicester in the mean time and bought a scorpion back box and a centre box delete pipe)
Some stretch...
now, as you can see in these next pics, the arches are sat on the tyres at the back!...
still... no bother! I got back on the bag and bought myself an arch roller!
Then one weekend with the help of my dad, his mate Paul, the arch roller and a heat gun,we soon sorted those meddling arches out a treat!... happy days!
Don't have any pictures I'm afraid as the phone I had at the time died and my auto backup didn't work as well as I'd hoped!
Anyway! Onwards and upwards as they say!
Fast forward to Christmas day and my dad has gone and bought me an awesome Mountney 14" wooden steering wheel made in 1978!
... This was soon fitted!...
Excuse the dash, it's all out at the moment as I'm in the midst of setting up an old school equaliser and original tape deck to go with my Goodmans parcel shelf speakers
And yesterday, I thought I would roll the ol' girl out in to the cold for a few (all be it rather shonky) pics to end 2014!
And here they are!...
And that brings us up to date!
That's all folks!
Thanks for taking a look! An as always, all comments are welcome!
