hillman hunter restoration

Hi all! I'm a 20 year old boy, I'm new to this whole forum... And the classic car thing in general.

I've just bought a 1975 hillman hunter 4 door saloon. My plan is to get it back to a half decent condition and make a good looking car in the process.

I'll put picks up of the progress when its a bit further along.

But my question right now is, does anyone know where I can get performance parts for the engine? Or performance parts for other car engines that will fit....?

(things like carbs, air filters, exhaust systems, etc...)

The original prime tuning company for these engines was Holbay which seems to still vaguely exist in the form of this company.

If your car is a relatively low spec version (iron cylinder head? single carb?) then there are various bolt on arrangements from the higher spec versions of Hunters, Sunbeam Rapiers, Humber Sceptres for which Ebay or proper autojumbles are probably the best source.

my elder brother had a hunter gt , when I was about 8, I loved it and thought it was really fast . my brother thought he was a rally driver and it ended up on its side after about a week of ownership .something about that car always stuck in my mind

Okay thanks guys. I didn't realise what a state the engine was in!

I've just bought a Mazda MX5 engine and gearbox instead....
