Will this bash out or do I need a new wing?

I suspect it can be saved but I'm pretty clueless - can this be put right or do I need a new wing?

got the chance to buy a replacement but don't want to if it's not necessary

Ive done a bit of minor tin bashing Stuart , id say it would come out ,but might still be a bit iffy around the top where its most creased .I don't think it will look like new though !! I wouldnt know how much somone would charge or if its so much a new wing should be fitted . Might be worth taking to the most oldschool bodyshop garage you can find , where so old curse word will do it . Your not having much luck with your cars at the moment , sorry to hear that !

I think it really depends on how nice you want your car to look.
It could be knocked out in 5 minutes with a hammer from inside, but it would take a lot of work to make it look nice, factor in the rust on the current wing and I would be getting a replacement.
Knock it out for time being, buy spare wing & have it fitted/painted when finances allow.

Most of that will pull out ,not knock outed . A repair has to be looked at as to were it was hit from adn which bits bent in first , then pulled out in reverse order if that makes sense .

By the time you have beaten it out, stripped the paint and smoothed everything out with filler you could have fitted a wing.

If it were mine, i'd fit a new wing all day long.

I'm fully comp so i'll be getting prices to have it done properly by a real man (especially as the rear is much worse) just wondering if I should be grabbing any wing that comes up myself asap

Hi, knocking or pulling that out is going to see that line of rust at the top ripped open. Also for the same reason an insurance repairer will not do it, they will want to replace. So as said start with another wing.

the rust on the top of the wing is just on the surface where the paint has peeled

the car is properly solid

Cost of repair of that will far outweigh replacement. I'd also think carefully before talking to insurance company as they will likely write it off

It will repair but will be far cheaper and look much nicer job if you replace it mate !!
The mere fact it has rust around the top means future replacement is inevitable anyway ,no point paying out twice mate

Mk 3/4/5 Cortina wings are bolted on.I'd replace it if it was my car,the rust that's already there means it'll need doing soon anyway.

I'd replace it personly, that rust is were they all rust from the inside out, TBH it looks like it's been painted and the rust is coming back through from inside so i'd change it as it's a pretty easy job, 20 odd 10mm bolts and a few 13mm on the bumper nad it's done, IME no insurance repairer will fill that they will insist on a new wing anyway.
