I usually hate these kind of requests for info when they don't have any photos, but hopefully some pics will be forthcoming very soon.
A friend turned down an MOT'd 1967 Mini Auto (seller asking £1,000) this morning and I told him he was a flipping idiot! I haven't seen pics yet, but apparently it's in pretty good nick. All I've been told is that it's a 1967 auto with an MOT. It's had a 1.3 (1275?) engine fitted in place of the original 1.0 engine.
I'm awaiting some photos of it but reckon it's got to be worth more than £1k? I mean, tax exempt and MOT'd Mini??
The only reason for asking is because I'm trying to convince him to buy it (I have no money, otherwise I'd be too tempted) and we give it a once over together then look to sell it on, I can do the advertising/photos and take a cut of the profit.
So, off the bat, it's surely worth more than £1k right?

MM , ive been looking at minis again after a long break so the curranat prices have become a shock ! I would say as a mot'ed shabby runner , i.e a few patchs bad paint , etc its got to be worth £1500 at least , depending on how bad it is and its originality . If its a genuine car and hasnt been reshelled with a later body it definately worth more . I would buy it and stick it on ebay for £1250 and watch it go up .Easy money .

Definitely. My stepdad knows lots about Minis, and says anything with an MoT will for a a grand, and if it's in nice nick, you can double it.

As said, if it's not a dodgy reshell on an early V5 and isn't hanging, then worth it's £1k and a good bit more. Auto might put a few off but it'll be an easy trade if it's essentially solid.

Definitely for a 67 shape. Even a more recent shape should be worth that.

Just make sure it isn't a dodgy reshell to get free tax, there's a lot of that goes on in the mini world.
A mot'd tax exempt mini would need to be pretty hanging to not make 1k. As long as it's not a rot box it would easily make more than that on ebay

I also own a "67, but a cooper.
I deal with minis quite regularly and would like to consider myself an avid enthusiast.
It's common discussion in the mini world regards some of the advertised prices online, it's all good and well asking it, but few are selling at that money.
If you advertised your car at £1000, it would sell the same day, heck I would give you that for it now! But in all fairness you could get more.
Advertise it at £1,500 you would get a pretty quick sale.
At £2,500 up to £3,000 you will probably get a nice sale, but it may take a week or two.
Do you have an engine code? If it's similar era to the shell this will also be desirable.
The fact it is 1967 will make it a MK2 which they stopped producing in 1969, so made for a very limited time. What will let it down is the fact it is an auto, unfortunately, from what I am lead to believe you can not just wack a manual box on a auto block and that the most effective swap is a manual motor to be slung in. They are increasing in value. I would love to buy this off of you to use as a run around whilst mine is in the garage undergoing restoration.
Is it worth more than £1,000? Yes, easily.

Just dawned on me... Not a resell is it? This would drastically effect the value.
1967 was the cross over year, early part being MK1 later being Mk2
If it is an original mk1 shell it will have...
External door hinges and curved front door corners. Sliding windows. Oval rear lights and a smaller number plate recess Mk2 will have rectangular lights and a longer number plate recess Mk1 will have a smaller rear window. Mk1&2 will have the bonnet hinge brackets further into the centre of the car under the scuttle.

It sure does, it will look as though there is another roof gutter spot welded on the underside of the gutter. In the corners it will have a lance type drain slot as apposed to the gutter gap on the later mk3+ cars.

Many thanks for all the info guys. I'm still awaiting some photos and further details on the car (hopefully this week) and I'll let you know how I get on.
Thanks again.
