Just got a really clean white 1992 Mk3 Golf 1.8 GL as my new daily. Seen cheap used sets of springs and shocks on ebay but there normally off Gti's VR6's etc. Does anyone know if they will fit my Mk3? I have seen some cheap new lowering springs for MK3's but they all say 9/93 onwards? Does my car use Mk2 stuff as its an early one. Only what 60mm drop as drive it loads. Thanks Neil

I have no knowledge of the Golf chassis but I'd be very surprised if a MK3 used MK2 running gear and then VW suddenly changed a year later to MK3 running gear.
Easy way for you to find out is to put your registration number into the Euro Car Parts website and see what components are available for the area in question. Write down the part numbers. Then clear your reg number out of the search and perform the same search for a later car and see if the part numbers change.

All mk3 golf use the same suspension but they do have different spring rate and damper rate for the vr6/gti and the stinking diesel also mk3 running gear will bolt straight in a mk2 golf this is how you make a wide track golf

Ok thanks looks like I will be able to run a bit lower on the cheap. Don't want to spend to much on it as the car only cost £250. Its really clean though with only 68000 miles. Thanks Neil
