Ok, I bought a 3 dr Polo with the 1.9 sdi engine, intending to use it as a daily. BUT I've just been offered a Ford Galaxy for scrap money as it's engine dropped a sump plug and has seized.
Can all the Galaxy engine ancillaries be swapped onto the Polo block ? Or does anyone know the right combination of bits that I could use ?
Cheers in advance.

It's usually cheaper to get a full TDI engine to swap in. They are different engines, AFAIK.

Your Polo has an SDi Suction Direct injection and the Galaxy will be a TDi Turbocharged Direct injection Although the basic principles of the two are based on the same basic block design they are highly incompatible, So if you were thinking of fitting the SDi in the Galaxy it may well work but would be way underpowered, For more info have a look on here For more info have a look on here Sdi will do 60mpg plus all day long the TDi 50 if your lucky. I currently run both the Polo a 1.9 SDi has the cat removed EGR blocked and running water meth and it goes almost as quick as the wife's standard 90bhp Golf.

The Passat (unlikely, but possibly) could also have the PD engine which IIRC has different parts altogether.

The Galaxy (unlikely, but possibly) could also have the PD engine which IIRC has different parts altogether. PD's are a different animal Pump Duice. The SDi's have the vacuum pump on the end of the head and the Galaxy will have the vacuum pump driven off the timing belt at the front of the engine.
