Looking at various options to make my '66 Chevy C10 more anti social. One option is having a pair of cutouts fitted to the headers to then selectively terrorize cats n dogs etc. These are on Evilbay, from China. Price per side with free delivery. www.ebay.co.uk/itm/350803969660 My question is, has anyone used them before, what is the quality and longivity of these parts?? I have no access to anything like this in the UK. Thanks for your replies |

Hi, these work the same way as exhaust brakes on commercial vehicles. There are some on Ebay both new and secondhand similar prices but made by the manufacturers as opposed to the dubious quality of Chinese fayre. The only thing is the 'Y' piece would have to be made or again are available on Ebay.

Personally i would buy from the states. I have used Summit racing for stuff before and the prices and delivery speed were surprising good. The Warranty is also there should you need it. Another advantage is that they know the products and can advise on any fitting challenges that may occur on your C10. Looking at the picture of the ebay item, it looks like it could be a good paper weight after a few uses.

I'd just find a 'cheap' truck exhaust brake valve and do the necessary fabrication to use that. Gonna be a lot more reliable.  |

I would look at mixing a selection of exhaust parts, a flap valve, Bowden cable and for bit of retroness an old atco mower throttle lever to work it all. Would have the advantage of infinite volume control.

Had them on my PU a few years back. Not the Chinese ones but these www.quicktimeperformance.com/QTEC/. At the time they cost me about £200 landed and worked very well. Didn't leak and always worked. Have heard that some brands fail quite quickly, so for the price difference my preference would be for a name brand. P. |

do they have to be electric? At wok we have loads of 2 inch ball valves fitted to our fryer pipework, a y piece and one of those would give you the option before you set off, although switching on the move could be tricky |

So I am open to various options. But I do have a 3 inch diameter to deal with. |

I have 2 cutouts underneath the MC, works like a charm, came originally from summit and where bought new by a friend of mine, as he went from supercharger to turbo he couldn't place them anymore and they where given to me , so i put them under the MC.

Those tack welds look shonky at best!
I can't imagine it being too difficult to knock something up to be operated by a solenoid
