Very tasty, always preferred German over cal look, Plus this will have the power to match, have to admit a bias towards bugs that do more than looks or straight line performance Ttfn Glenn

Had to make a new adapter flange for my new Turbosmart wastegate yesterday. 2 x t3 mild steel turbo flanges, small length of rectangle box 70mm x 35mm x 3mm cut and shut down to size, all tig welded together. Hole sawed 35mm at the top of the adapter for a 38mm waste gate flange to be welded on. Should be able to complete this during the week and then all the turbo side of the conversion will be complete. Fitted new output flanges on irs bug gearbox to run the 944 Porsche rear arms and shafts. Stripped down shafts to clean and paint ready to refit. Need to run charge cooler lines to the rad at the front of the car to help with cooling the inter-cooler. Still some final electrical work to complete on the lights and alarm system as this will be a street driven car. Once all together and its up and running it will be needing a new map Getting closer with completing a long term project.

What a lot of people don't realize is the last of the rear mounted transporter engines had very similar internals of the air-cooled bug set up. Stronger points were an alloy engine case, better oiling system with far superior crank, rods and flywheels. This is a very under estimated engine in the tuning department but fround upon with some of the aircooled comunity. There are a couple of big hp bugs out there running modified wbx motors from 200 - 850bhp! Check out the skinne beetle on youtube. Its a proper animal of a bug!

And it can be converted to air cooling too, for those of us that like that kinda thing!

The bug is pretty much all together now and i'm ready for some testing. Runs and idles ok with the map that was built in its 415 hp guise. North Weald Airfield has its 1/4 mile test and tune day, i will be taking the bug over there for some practice runs and some adjustments where i think necessary. Roll on sunday
