Accidentally bought this today:- 1990 5.0 GT convertible. Sold my Escort estate on Thursday and had my eye on this, went to see it last night and both my wife and I liked it a lot! It lived in Spain for a good few years so it's solid, it's had money spent on it when it's needed it, and it drives beautifully. And that V8! Sounds mint when you kick it down! Plans are...leave it alone and just drive the bejesus out of it (for now...)

I love these, my work had one identical when I was younger and because of all the American police chase program's I always wanted one as they used the tin top version as interceptors

The one thing you don't worry about when you buy an American V8 motor is the mpg oscare30 Haven't clocked it yet but if I'm getting low 20s on a run I'll be happy. Interior's minty, car was in Spain for a long time so it's had a new set of seat covers and hood (I assume they'll have been destroyed by the heat). Engine bay is also tidy, if a little cluttered. I'll get some pics if I've got it out for a play tomorrow night.

First proper run out yesterday, to Seaburn show: Three of my mates have Mustang convertibles as well (what's the odds of that?) and two of them were there as well so we had a canny little display going on Things I've learned: • Don't sit in a convertible, even with all the windows up, whilst it's being jetwashed. You will get wet. • When you're bald, and you own a convertible, always carry factor 50 suncream on the top of your heed (scorched today!) • Always wear a hat when going to a seafront show as seagull poo is quite unpleasant to remove

Had a bit of bother with starting, so changed the battery (turns out it wasn't up to the job) and a starter solenoid as it stuck on the other night. Then had a very flat tyre on Saturday, so thought I'd do the sensible thing and give it a run out to a show at Chester le Street on Sunday: (shown is three quarters of the Durham Pony Club! Unfortunately Pete McGarr was at work so couldn't bring his 4.6 convertible)

I never thought I'd find a 90's Mustang cool, but that day has come Tbh the wheels look a bit small but I have no idea what could look better. Keep it up, it looks like you're taking superb care of the car!

Taking the family to a show at Walworth Castle on Saturday so couldn't have the old girl looking ropey round the edges! I knew the car had been painted, and the silver on the bumpers and kit started flaking the first time the car was washed. Results here: I assume it's had a minor knock from the state of the front plate. Started hand-sanding it, which was fun as whatever silver was used clogged even 80-grit straight away. Still, at least it's smooth now: Found some more grotty bits behind the plate and round the fogs, hopefully I'll have all this sorted tonight though. Bought some plastic primer, silver and glitter lacquer last night, and stuck a half day in on Thursday to get it painted - the lacquer looks really good in the sun, if we ever get any

Got a coat of plastic primer on: Then a coat of silver - and by golly, it's silver allright: Can't wait to see it with the glitter lacquer on!

Plan B - just went and got a darker silver (pewter to be exact) which looks loads better than the bright silver: ...and even better when it's glittered up!

Done nowt with the Mustang since I painted the front end, other than drive the tyres off it! It's the most useable Yank I've ever owned, and I'm making the most of it before the cack weather kicks in. First job once I get time/cash etc is to convert it to five stud and fit a decent set of wheels. Did a quick and dirty Photochop the other day of the car with Bullitt rims fitted: Before: After: Might have to match the kit into the wheels so they don't clash, but I think that'll work well. The other thing I've been thinking about is a vinyl wrap. The paint's not great so no loss there, and there's been a lot of talk about vinyl wrapping round here, so just need to get a price to do the top half of the car and we'll go from there.

Yeah they've got a bit of an Empi thing going on haven't they? ? Will be a bit of a chew as it'll mean new hubs and halfshafts, but think it'll be well worth it.
