Picked this up back in March as i'd always liked the Spen King design, although not really a fan of SUV/offroad vehicles. Despite that, i'm really liking the driving experience - lots of glass, excellent driving manners and the v8 woofle of course. not many photos yet but this was taken at Coventry MotoFest the other week Down at the Motor Heritage Centre with a newer rangey Filming for BBC Midlands Today with ChasR from this very parish (white stag) Spec is a 91 vogue in rare Eastnor green (solid colour) with elec sunroof and aircon which is an odd spec. not leather but has excellent teddy bear brown velour trim :-)

Looks a nice one. Enjoy "woofling" around!
last Classic I saw advertised here, which was nowhere near as nice, was just shy of GBP11k!

Contrary to popular opinion, I do have mechanical sympathy, I always feel sorry for the cars I drive.

just a quick update in that since buying the RR in march, we've done about 950 miles in it. It had a slight issue with the IACV plunger thingy on the plenum but otherwise its running ok. Its running a bit rich but i think that's because the viscous fan coupling has failed so the dealer took the thermostat out (it takes ages to warm up unless you are driving immediately in traffic. a new 82 degree thermo has been acquired and just sorting out a new viscous coupling. Other stuff going on has been the prep and paint of these rostyles. I acquired 8 of them, some with decent tyres. This is the last one to get sprayed last night, so will be fitted to car soon.

I forgot how much better the Stag looked with the wheels and the drop. Ah well, we all must try new things. You already know this but I do very much approve of this purchase. It is a lovely old thing and it seems to be going in the right direction. The Rostyles are a great touch it has to be said, and I reckon you have chosen a great base. With your mechanical know how and vision it should be quite a sorted Range Rover in the end. BTW if you require some number plates with the rivetted letters let me know. A place in Birmingham makes them for quite a reasonable value .

That looks really neat. I do like the Rostyles on it. Funny there's one for sale here and I thinks it's the one that's used to tow an SD1 racer to sprints and hillclimbs. Funny hadn't seen a Stag in ages and a white one passed me on Friday. Keep up the good work.

The colour definitely suits the older style of the steel wheels and smaller bumpers, is this your winter steed then now that temps are dropping. Would be good to get some pictures to make it look like it was the 70's again (not instagram shots!) Flag mirrors and an early grill! To be honest I think your bumpers without the end caps look better than these below.

i've had it since march so can't really call it a winter hack. Although I am hoping for a hard winter/snow. If i can get the lpg system sorted, then it'll hopefully replace the missus yaris as her runabout.

Looks superb, the body colour and the colour of the wheels looks ace. What mpg are you getting on this?

I'm really liking where you are going with this.
One thing (and it could be just the camera playing tricks) but the grey bumper seems to jar with the rostyles.
I think bumper and wheels the same colour, or bumper painted black, would work a little better.
All in though, fantastic stuff.

The very early range rovers, like chassis 001 www.silverstoneauctions.com/1970-range-rover-chassis-no-1 had silver bumpers with "sahara" rostyles (or silver). I had the cream paint already in, so used that. Trying to avoid black as its makes for a dull colour combo with dark green paint. classic range rovers will always be a product of the early 70's to me, so dark greens or wacky bright 70's orange, bahama gold, light blue etc.
