I posted these on autoshite, but i'm sure there are people on here who will apreaciate them too! A mate of mine just got back from a family holiday in Malta, before he went i told him to take pics of as much wibblepoo as he could and he has excelled himself! It seems people hold on to there cars for a long time out there i'm also told it is very hard to import/export cars due to crazy v.a.t. anyway here goes: austin/morris 1100/1300 ke30 Toyota Corolla mk1 Facelift Hyundai Pony! mk1 escort mk3 Cortina wagon + interest pickup viva Daihatsu Charade sunny mini

Malta is amazing for rot-free cars. Motoring standards are a touch more laissez faire than over here so they tend to get knocked and dinged to bug gery. Great spots

Do they still drag race down at the disused military base? I remember being caught up in one in a Corsa!

Malta is a quality tat heaven , I was there a couple of years ago and it's fapping ace for old clunker spotting, although as always I just end up getting in trouble for running down side streets to photograph some rusty old nail ;D

Just back myself, and can confirm that there's a huge amount of retro junk still being used out there - loads and loads of '70s and '80s Japanese stuff (lots of which you'll never see in the UK), Mk1 and 2 Escorts, Mk2 and Mk3 Cortinas, Anglias, Hillman Hunters, a few Huskies, Avengers, Marinas, Vivas, Victors, Austin 1100s and the like, Minis, Series 1 and 2 Land Rovers, Minors and so on. There are also lots and lots of old English trucks still being used - Bedford TJs and TKs, Guys, AECs and every variation of '70s and '80s Leyland you can think of.
Coincidentally noticed that I have pictures of the same Alfasud and red Mk1 Escort as above, taken in Victoria on Gozo - not that many pictures as the other half finds my enthusiasm for stalking clapped-out wrecks more than a little sad. ;D
Interesting place.

Malta's great, Gozo better. I recognise a couple of those cars from my last visit there.

its about 17 years since ive been to malta. the amount of cool old tat is staggering. I loved going on the busses, great old 50s and 60s jobs, some of the ones we were on had no windows and most had a bit of string running the length of the bus to ring the bell when you want to get off. great place, and I pulled a local bird when I was there, hehe. ;D
