Does anyone know of a rear wheel drive, engine gearbox and axle that can be fitted into a moggy. I was wondering if there was something from a fairly recent model so spares are easier to get. If not will I be able to swap some Ford stuff, ie engine, 5 speed gearbox and English axle. Any ideas and suggestions will be a big help. Thanks very much.

Hi MKmark Ford type 9 with Black top zetec or K Series is the standard swap nowadays. If you wanted to be a bit different down under toyota 4AGE conversions are pretty common. Check out my build thread, it should give you a few ideas retrorides.proboards.com/thread/87745

There are a couple of blokes on here running K-Series swaps, no idea about the 'box though. At least one of them had a build thread though.

Hi mkmark,
You mention in your original post that you're tempted to modify your minor with a modern engine and drivetrain, one with better spares availability.
In my (admittedly limited) experience and assuming you've a late Minor with the 1098 'A' series in there, spares availability is pretty comprehensive, everything is straight off the shelf if you ask around.
Although those Zetec conversions mentioned above look tempting, if you and your wallet can face the comprehensive treatment that takes in the brakes and suspension as well.
Good luck with whatever route you go down - Dave.
