I've got to get round to finishing this so I can either use or sell it... datsunclubuk.proboards.com/thread/2438/driftgarage-srb310...But to handle the extra power of the SR20DE and possibly future fitting of a turbo, I need something bigger than the tiny stock axle. It will be have the diff welded as LSDs are a bit too pricey and was thinking of fitting an MGB axle because of the similar width and PCD, and because they are supposedly used with the (admittedly not all that powerful) Rover powered MGBV8. I was offered an H165 a few months ago but don't think it'll be strong enough even with the NA engine if it's used for drifting, which of course it will be. I have seen people talk about it but not actually anyone that has carried it out. Is it a good option or is there an easier/better one? Mine is on coils, not leaf springs. Any pointers or links would be much appreciated so I can get this moving again. Cheers Mitch.

I'm running a Ford Baby Atlus on my B310 SR20DET, lots of parts available and can handle big power. There is nothing Nissan based that will fit (easily) as far as I could work out. Series 1 RWD Toyota Hilux rear axles are good, but are rarer than a rare thing. Check my signature for the build on mine... pictures in the last few pages, thin on tech details from my end because it is getting done at RNJ Motorsport

That link doesn't work:
"Oops, there was an error! You do not have permission to access this thread"
Constantly reading up on old Nissan related stuff to learn more about my Bluebird, SR20 conversions seem the 'norm' in America. I've read a H190 rear end is the one to use, but I guess they are more common over there.
You should post a picture of your car on here and make a build thread.

Sorry about the link. I copied it below. Hopefully it'll work... Hi all, Just thought I'd sign up to get advice and maybe buy some bits for my project B310. I'm in the process of fitting an SR20DE from a Spec S S15 to my X reg Sunny. Here's how it started before I pulled the 1500 engine and auto box out. Engine and box out. If anyone's after a good 1500 lump, let me know. Started making the mountings for the subframe... And the engine in place... Then the less interesting and non pictured stuff like clutch pedal, fuel lines etc were sorted and then moved on to the front suspension setup. I fitted S13 coilovers, lower arms, hubs and brakes and there is plenty of lock as standard with the steering box setup. The relay is in the way of the downpipe so that's an issue I need to address. I bought a set of MA61 Celica wheels and had the centre bores machined out to fit the S13 hubs. I'm now stripping the layers of paint from the rims and will be painting them up soon. Rear springs were cut to see how the car will sit, and it will need some spacers to make the fitment better. I'll update this soon but next up is getting room to fit a radiator, fit the fuel pump and engine loom, and get the thing running. I have a bigger axle lined up which should be able to cope with the extra go.

I saw on an old thread that you posted on but it was about four years old so thought I'd start a new one. I'll have a look at your build thread now.

That is very cool. Those wheels are a good choice. Looking forward to updates.

That engine and box would be perfect for a Minor.

Don't they look right like a a Morris Ital. What about a TR7 axle?

Any pointers or Cheers Mitch. The H165 will bolt in to the b310 assuming you get it from a donor car that has rear coils. May add 10mm to track width but rolled arches FTW. Mine handled 200bhp and 185lb/ft of torque propelled by a CA18ET with no sweat and spirited driving (not drifting) If you are going to go turbo and possible double what what a NA SR20 pushes out, then look for a beefier unit. H190's will cope with 300bhp and again almost a bolt in solution and best of all don't come with scene taxes applied like on most of the Toyota rear axles... I would drop in a h165' weld it and see what happens. No major ball ache fitting it and iron out other issues as you test and iron out any other issues that may arise from the engine swap.

That is one of the options, but I thought it a bit pointless to fit the H165 to just swap it out again. I've been offered one for £200 but was going to weigh up the price of an H190 to see if it is a viable option. 10mm extra width will be a bonus too.

If you ARE going for big power with the turbo option then H165 isn't going to cut it. Neither will the MBG unit for that matter or the old English ...with 300+ bhp and equally large amounts of torque options of suitable axles diminish and costs proportionately increase. Commercials vehicles like some Mitzi's and Hilux pickups will have strong axles which may be slightly wider, same PCD and low ratios like 4.4 etc which is ideal for drift work ! Once you start thinking of shortening axles and customs half shafts, costs spiral and it's no longer VFM project...

scimitar axle will easily take 300hp, there the same salisbury 4ha diff as the jag irs. means LSDs/lockers are cheap too, and its the right PCD. what width do you need? i think a se5 axle is 54" if i remember correctly?

Cheers
