This engine came with the mustang when I bought it as the previous owner planned to swap the original 3.3 inline six with this at some point. However I have found no problems with the inline, and it's just more my sort of engine. As much as people rave about the performance potentials with these V6's (the supercharged ones are very potent) I'm just not keen on the idea of it in the mustang as I don't think it goes with the feel of my ideas for the car.
This is a 3.8 litre 'Essex' (the US version, from thunderbird/mustangs not the UK one from Scimitars which has a different V angle I believe) V6.
I believe it was bought as a runner by the previous owner, but I have never tried anything with it so can't confirm this.
Had injection originally, I think the TB was in the box of bits but could easily be fitted with a 2 barrel carb as you can see from the pictures.
Has an auto box attached, 3spd C4 I think, but not 100% from memory. This is the majority of the weight and size!
Would be perfect for a small hot rod project as a starter engine, have seen these in Model T's etc and there is even a video on youtube of a guy whose put a UK Essex in an MX5 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K57A06BxEgw) with plenty of space to spare, so this may also fit in something similar.
It is currently located in my Uncles Garage near Southend, Essex. Collection only - it is big and heavy but we got it in and out of the back of a pronto van, so a large estate car would probably take it also.
Due to the unknown condition, I guess it's worth scrap so I'll say £100 but I'm open to offers, especially if it's going in a worthwhile project.
