1994 Mitsubishi Delica L400 for sale. It's a manual, which is fairly unusual for one of these, and it's also a low roof, which means it will fit under most car park height restrictors. I'm not going to go into a long-winded description of Delicas as I'm assuming that anyone who reads this will know what they're looking at...
It's MOT'd unil January and taxed until the end of December. It starts first turn of the key and drives well; the gearbox is good, and all the 4 wheel drive gubbins work, including the centre diff lock and low range. I think one of the glow plugs might be on its way out as the engine does chug a bit for the first few seconds after a cold start (and it is only a few seconds), but it's fine after that and pulls like a train. Being a manual helps the fuel consumption too. The exhaust was blowing quite badly from the front section when I bought the car - I've patched it up as best I can, but long term it may need a new section - these are only about 40 quid on eBay. Otherwise it seems in good fettle - no clouds of smoke and no sign of overheating.
The interior is mostly pretty good although the rearmost seats are a bit tatty thanks to the previous owner's dog. The electrics are mostly fine, although the front windows do sometimes need a helping hand to wind back up - if left to their own devices they sometimes stop halfway and drop down slightly, which suggests to me that the anti-trap mechanism is detecting excessive resistance - so probably the linkages need greasing. The front sunroof is similar in that it opens fine (both tilt and slide) but is a bit of a pain to close. The rear sunroof doesn't work. The aircon did apparently work but the compressor was noisy so the previous owner removed the belt, and I forgot to pick it up when I collected the car. The original horn was pathetic, so I've fitted a 17" air horn under the bonnet, which is LOUD.
Bodywork is rot free, but does have a few scuffs and scrapes, the worst being a deep scratch on the NSR wing. No major dents though, and it looks perfectly presentable. There is a towbar fitted. The only other thing to mention is that the rear screen is polycarbonate as the original was smashed when someone closed the tailgate onto a wardrobe. It's never bothered me - the only time I could possibly see it being an issue is in the winter when you would lose the demisting you'd get with a glass window. There's plenty of Delicas being broken for spares, so secondhand screens (or complete tailgates) are quite widely available.
That's about it really. I don't have a huge amount of history with it - I do have the original owner's handbook, but this will be of relatively little use unless you can read Japanese.
Here's a photo - I'll take some more once the weather improves.
