So, Very small update time. I got my timing cover back from my friends paint shop. A nice gloss black finish effect that I'm really pleased with. Then it was fitted back on the car. Then something else that I got back from painting was the original front grill. In the first page you can see that the original grill on the car was red when I purchased it. I didn't like it and it didn't match the library photo of an L I found online. So I had it repainted to match the plastic trims. I much prefer it now. What's others opinions? Thanks for looking.

Way better. I swapped out the red grille on my cortina estate for the same reason when I had it. And the mirrors....colour coding doesn't work on older cars imho

I then wanted to start cleaning the interior as it stinks of wood (the material not the smell of a boner) best quote ever!

Ok so update time for the old girl. It's been a long time since I've updated this. Basically now that I've got the Cavalier looking somewhere were I want it to be, I thought it was time to get her out for some pampering. First job was quite simple, clean off the ridiculously heavy layer of curse word and dust off. I cleaned her off and dried her, then it was back out with the RUPES Bigfoot orbital polisher. After the 4 steps and a coat of wax was applied here were the results! I only managed to complete the offside completely as it's a long process. However I was very pleased with the result. She looks really mint in the pictures, but the truth isn't quite that. She's one of those fm girls that look great until you get a bit closer, then you start to notice all the little in discrepancies. Like here on the rear arch, which has got worse in the short time I've had her. How about here on the front wheel arch, the paint is really thin here. However, she's still a very clean and capable machine, she still hasn't reached 40k miles which is amazing. So I'm pleased. Also, now that the banded steels are complete on the Cavalier and I'm more aware of the look of them, I've decided to add another half inch to the bands. Which will hopefully be made before the Summer. Thanks for looking and all comments welcome and appreciated.

Absolutely adore this car and have enjoyed reading about it's progress. Similar story to my Rover 820E. It's great seeing them slowly come back to life again. Keep the updates coming!

Ryry87 - Thank you very much buddy. I can't remember the last time I saw a Rover 8 series. There is one in the Stondon motor museum going for auction soon as it's closing. They're a good car.

Don't knock rust like that, these cars love the brown stuff and yours seems to have avoided the majority of it. A bit of rust on an arch doesn't take anything away from how stunning this car really is.I can't remember seeing one this clean in the 22 years I've owned my one. The fact its a real survivor (banger fodder) makes it even better.low specs are rare now and this is a mag feature car waiting to happen.

Got the car from 105 bhp at the crank to 152 at the wheels.nitrous going on next.....if it ain't broke, keep bolting on go faster parts until it is........ www.fordgranadaclubuk.freefo.de

Grifterkid - Sorry mate. I know you love my updates on the fleet really. Wait till you see this on banded steels.
Mr - Thank you so much for those comments, I'd love to see the old girl in a magazine. I was always told that base spec cars won't ever be worth anything, think I also read it in a CCW article. However I'm glad that you feel the same that base models are rarer. I'm sure most have been raced and bangered now as you say.

I am sure you can pick up some Ghia alloys pretty cheaply to tide you over until the super-wide steelies have been created for you...?!

I know I'm playing a regularly spun record here but please make sure this car is safely stored and has a tracker fitted to it (the security device, not the muesli bar!) so it stays in your possession...
This is a stunning car and my want for a Mk2 Granada is growing and GROWING...!

Darrenw - Thank you very much, you should have seen the pink faded colour it was when I collected it. Djefk - Haha! Thank you very much. Grifterkid - She is locked up safe and secure in my unit. She won't be leaving my sight when I take it out too. I'm starting to appreciate how lucky I am to have a Granny in this condition. Norniron - Thanks mate, I have gone OEM+ on pretty much all of my projects. It's the style that best suits me. Orangecords - Kleenex or Andrex? So time for a cheeky little update. I got this photograph sent to me today and it put a big grin on my face. I also polished up my replacement front bumper and trims then fitted them all onto the car. I haven't been able to locate the N/S front plastic trim as yet but it's the only part I'm missing. It's starting to look a lot more like a finished project now. Cheer for all the comments and I do really appreciate reading them all

Wheels have been blasted and are ready for powder coating. Looking forward to seeing these wrapped in rubber on the car now.
