i recently melted the piston in cylinder 3 on my 1300 crossflow Rickman ranger, and as it is my daily drive, the race is on to sort it out!
i have at my disposal a 711M block 1600 crossflow, and a 691M 1600 crossflow, both in various stages of disassembly....
the plan is to build up the 711M one, as the short engine is all still in one piece, so all that needs to be done is sort out the head, lap in the valves etc. however, there are some things that i need to source, not leat of which is the clutch.
I have a 4 speed box that is currently attached to the 1300, so i will be using that. the 1600 has a flywheel, and no clutch components whatsoever.
i'm not after a racing clutch, just something that will take a reasonable amount of abuse (i use the car for trialling) for not too much money. there seem to be so many options around, i was wondering if anyone has any suggestions?
