Marshall ill probably be calling them to see if they can recore the heater matrix, its not any use in the boot lol. Do you know of anyone on island that can reset springs? long shot but worth asking, If not I'm going to see if i can use escort lowering blocks, sod paying £350 for blocks and springs from AUS. very small update: mk1 golf splitter has also been ordered and dispatched, as the chrome isnt its best I'm probably going to store the bumpers and run bumperless for a while.

No idea if anyone does springs over here to be honest, think last time I looked into it there wasn't anywhere. Ross down at Motivation Engineering would know, probs worth giving him a shout first (at the very least he could knock a set of lowering blocks up).

It's a shame now that these cars are rare but I remember years ago before you got paid for scrap and actually had to pay to take it away that my brother in law had one as well, (which indecently I had my first driving lesson). When he was finished with it he flattened it with a job and entombed it in the base of his workshop. Not very EPA approved but I wonder how many ended up with similar faiths.

Nice Corolla! I used to have a yellow 1976 myself, the coveted Deluxe model, haha. Mine was rust free and super reliable. I was considering putting some bronze Watanabes on it with matching side stripes (have a Photoshop somewhere). But since it was totally stock I went the opposite direction and sourced some original hubcaps for it. They are so very ugly, charmingly so.
But I can't wait to see how this one turns out! These things have potential.

Yeah i tried to message her on fb to see that suspension shes running but no reply. My drill packed in today half way through doing this I have to admit even though i took the bumper off to see how bad the brackets have rusted i like the look The inlet and exhaust gaskets have been replaced and now i can hear theres another exhaust leak. Big hole in the down pipe just behind the flange

Another sit rep: I'm fed up of being slowly gassed whilst driving so i took the car to a local exhaust fab to see if it can be welded. No its way to thin to be repaired they suggested getting a new down pipe but as you can imagine finding one is hard, finding one thatll ship to the iom even more so. The solution is a newly fab'd down pipe and exhaust system as they have no stock with such a small diameter. Oh and itll be side exit 0_o. Bring the noise! I just hope i can afford it

Exhaust is a no go, been quoted 500 for fab and i just cant justify that expense on such a small engine Good news though, this came. Needs fettling

Have you tried the Corolla guys out East? Big following out there with plenty of cars still around so they might be able to sort you out a manifold: www.facebook.com/pages/CLUB-COROLLA-KE30/128988647176177?fref=tsETA: Also just remembered that one of the guys at Cromptons/Comptons said they had an old Corolla too, think it might have been a KE30 more-door, either way he might know of or even have a manifold....

Yeah I'm following that group, however i may have a solution, DMS can get me a down pipe from a 1983 1.3 corolla looking at the flange it will probably fit and has the added bonus of a flexi pipe that and the price £88 inc vat, I'm going to research the fitments to make sure it can be used or grafted onto my existing system. In the interim I'm trying some exhaust sealant for cracks and holes should atleast stem the flow and stop the headaches.
oh i forgot to mention I sorted the very sloppy steering, looks as though the steering box adjustment was out by a fair bit so re adjusted it and have zero play and uniform stiffness from lock to lock, the steering wheel was also loose, read as not really attached, but all good now... bit scary though. The car now runs well and feels like it kinda should and isnt trying to kill me, i think the next thing on my list is the valve clearance to get it sounding right.

I'm a happy chap today, the temp repair has taken and i can now spend longer than 10 mins in the car without needing hospital treatment. The valve clearance was all good apart from one which has now been set and its sounding better. Last night i ordered some escort lowering blocks as it was just easier.2" drop for now will see about spring re cambering when i have more time. My wing mirrors also arrived, so i offered one up to see how itd look, ill need to borrow someone's drill before fitting them

I managed to get a haynes manual for the car specifically for the carb adjustments and valve clearances, as I'm dubious about using what info is available online. so i managed to set the valve clearances correctly and shes sounding a ton better. When my timing light arrives (would you believe, no one sells a timing light in any auto parts store i went to here) ill also check and set that as it feels off a little. after id done that i got the front bumper back on after having a good old session with the autosol it came up ok but it definitely needs a re-chrome, figured id also get the mirrors fitted seeing as it was nice at that point.

Ive been away on holiday recently and knocking my pan in at work which has led to me being given a promotion and an office move. Go me! This has has lead to the old girl being a little bit forgotten. To remedy this i have set about fixing the brake system. The servo had a massive leak so ive had to block off the vac line. Driving with no assist is interesting to say the least! I searched for a replacement servo with no luck, so i tried to work out a suitable replacement, this came in the form of a 1995 starlet ep81 servo, which is quite a bit bigger than the original. with some hammer action i got it in and by god what a diference. The brakes have never been so good! Old servo Replacement after a quick paint Fitted just!

My first car was a 1979 KE30. Two door, in red. Mum had it from it's 3rd birthday and then I had it for 18 months around 1989. I put 25,000 miles on it, was never in the RAC, and it never let me down despite being utterly hammered up and down motorways. Most of it had rotted away by 1990 and it went to the scrap man. I imagine he just left it in a corner where it dissolved which is what it had been trying to do for years. Crying shame really, I still miss that car.
Good luck with yours, it's nice to know there are still a few around being used.
James

I was hoping to post up a lowered ke30 this week end, alas some sort of infection (possibly ebola or black river fever) atleast thats how bad i feel has kicked my a$$ so instead i did this... Air filter for an old ford beaten into submission by my dremel Before a quick polish (i need to spend more time on it) I also realised i have no inline fuel filter so ordered up a reusable one. I also reset the base timing and cleaned the carb a little. Shes running great but still room for improvement.
