Hi all
Need some advice please. My Renault 21 Turbo I reckon needs a fuel pump.The cars been sitting a while. Can I fit any fuel pump over 3 bar or do I have to stick to the proper R 21t one?

You can put an uprated pump on yes Don't forget the fuel pressure regulator will still be the controlling factor in terms of pressure at the fuel rail

Only danger with the wrong pump fitted is that it won't provide enough fuel for the turbo motor.
Also, if your fuel pressure regulator is a 3-bar regulator you've got to make sure your pump can provide in excess of 3-bar at all times. Remberz, when your injectors are opening and closing at a faster rate more fuel is escaping from the rail so the pump must be able to compensate for that additional demand at higher engine loads.
I'd say if your fuel pressure regulator is running at 3bar your fuel pump ought to be capable of something like 5 or 6 bar. If you get the part number off the side of the original pump you can check the specifications of it.
