two engines, how many fuel filters

Probably quite a simple question, I have two engines in the car, the fuel will come from the tank (via a lift pump) into a swirl pot and then from two pumps to the engines, now my question is, can I use 1 filter between the tank and swirl pot, or will I need 2 filters between the swirl pot and the pumps?

I'd have said one large filter with enough flow capacity for the two engines - don't think you even need two pump/swirl pots either???

I do need the two pumps as I won't be using the two engines all the time , I think I'm going to stick with the two filters after the pumps though.

I take it your feeding the swirl pot with the in tank efi pump ? Where are the return lines from the engines going to ? Running an efi pump with no pressure to work against lowers the flow rate dramatically . I
I run an external pump on my van as it suffers from starvation once the tank runs below 1/4 full . Tank pump feeds into a 3litre pot behind the tank and the return line from the engine goes into the pot with an overflow pipe going back to the main tank . Before I ran the return into the pot it would slowly empty over a few days until it was cutting out around left hand bends , put the engine return into the pot and it works fine now .

Yep, that's the way I intend to run it, the returns will go to the pot and the overflow back to one of the tanks.
