I had a quick go. I've not tried doing a car photoshop before so it's pretty rough. Love the car though Ooh you're in Wilts too. Where abouts? Good work! Hmmm....I think that the bright work and rims would have to go gloss black (murdered Super Snipe lol) for it not to be another matt black jalopy I'm just north of Swinetown. That is gorgeous!.....if it were mine I'd not be be painting it, patina and battle scars...just protect the paint and enjoy It will have more scars when the welding is done...then it will have more mismatched paint! Lots of interesting thoughts but for now the extent of excitement is having ordered a fuel pump rebuild kit and looking at other sensible things

This is already a very cool car and from the sounds of things, a very sensible project. I am already impressed by you taking it on. For the styling, I don't think it really needs lowering, it already looks to be at a great height and I don't think it needs to come down any further. Also, I'd advise leaving the chrome as it is for now and not altering that until you've done the body in one colour. Satin black will, undoubtedly, look good on this car, it's been done with others of similar shape and works exceptionally well. To make the car look longer and lower, I'd suggest a roof painted the same colour as the wheels, it should really emphasise that little kick up at the C pillar and blend into the glass and chrome more than a darker colour. Some chrome spider caps would finish off those wheels nicely as they stand too, no need for extra trims or alloys. Anyway, that's enough of my opinion, it's your car to do with as you please obviously. I am quite jealous, I have a lot of love for the styling of these Humbers in particular. Edit: I found some pictures of mid-50s Chevrolets that put me in mind of this car. So any ideas that work on those will work on this and that means you're very, very spoiled for choice!

I've got no idea how to do that in photoshop though . If that's you phone picture, try cleaning the lens and if it's still a bit blurry like that, stick some clear sticky tape over the lens and try taking another picture. It should be a bit sharper .

Lovely old thing. Well worth keeping and using. Has a bit of a 'Christine' look about it, but hopefully it isn't as evil as that!

You say about Christine, maybe I should recreate a hemi powered prototype... ? I read about their rallying exploits. I have to say though that rally reps aren't my thing (unless I find a lancia on another driveway ?) Mork, what year is yours? Any pics or more info?

This looks like it going to be a good build thread and ill be following it as I kinda like these old cars. What plans for the running gear ? standard or something big and beefy?

It will either be a wholly upsetting thread as I'm generally pretty irreverent (pays yer money, makes yer choices etc) or a boring one as I am pretty fond of it as is (ride height notwithstanding :-P Gonna live with stock running gear for now as it's a cruiser and tbh I'm not entirely sure what I'd put in it. Will no doubt mess with wheel selection and suspension but leave the body finish - h

Things have been ticking along in the background... The engine has two new exhaust valves, a new pushrod and the water pump is on it's way back from S.P. Waterpumps having been made like new so she will be drivable later on this week! Also, a quickish road trip to sunny Shrewsbury and back, followed by a significant quantity of (proper) Cider and Red Stag meant that I woke up on Sunday with a rather fuzzy head and this on the drive.... .....thanks to MightyMork (pleasure to meet you sir and I'm still lusting after the Taunus!) It is a Series IV and is as rotten as an EDL members soul but has a few very useful parts such as different wheel trims, PAS, auto 'box, extra bumpers (classic OEM+ style anyone?) and wheels which can go for banding. Next to pop through the door will be items to refresh the cebora welder I've been given and then the fairly minimal welding can begin.

Pretty impressive to snag a donor car, they can't be that easy to come by. Very much looking forward to further updates on this one now.

......"as rotten as an EDL members soul"
Best line I've heard in years. Sorry, but I'm stealing it and claiming it as my own!
Lovely old barge(s) you've got yourself there, look forward to seeing how they turn out.

bookmarked!
I have a Rover p6b that was my grandfathers and he once said, "you knew you had made it in life when you had a chauffeur driven Humber Super Snipe" as they were a pretty expensive car here in Australia. I've had a soft spot for them ever since.
