I was made in the 1980's, I grew up in the 1980's and basically all of my formative years... were in the 1980's.
Throughout my early car mad childhood, I held something of passion for a few of the decades finest. Styling cues like wild spoilers, boxed guards, pop-up headlamps, air vents for air vents sake etc all appealed greatly to me.
Just a week ago now, I finally had an opportunity to buy one of my dream machines from this era - sadly not a 308 GTS Fezza - in this case, a Porsche 944, in crispy clean white from the year 1987. This particular car has done a decent mileage (150,000 miles) but has been maintained impeccably. Receipts for everything were included, and among other things it's had a full engine rebuild around 50,000 miles ago and has had new Koni and Bilstein shocks this year. Everything is intact, and everything works!

Unfortunately, these are the only shots I have of it so far after a late return from buying it. The purchase involved a 250km road trip back home in the car, what better way to become acquainted with a new arrival than some alone time in the midst of the night on the open road? I did however mow down a large possum, this resulted in the below damage:

But that's ok! I cunningly arranged insurance prior to picking up, so the repair process is underway. Once this is done I'll get some stellar shots of the old thing and display just how pedantic the precious owners of this car have been!
Plans - well, nothing too serious (although I say this now!). A poke with the lowering stick is a must, I want this at least 60mm lower than it's current height, and will up the front spring rates and install larger rear torsions to suit. This car has been optioned with larger swaybars from new, so that's one thing I don't need to concern myself with, although some new bushes won't go amiss. Rolling stock is a high priority - I'm leaning towards 18" Japanese wheels, 8" front and 10" wide rear. Most have Porsche cups, turbo twists or cup "inspired" aftermarket designs and I want something different from the rest. Inside the car already has a 993 RS steering wheel (genuine!) but the stereo is severely lacking. It has a quite frankly infuriating Philips head unit with 5 million flashing lights and stupid buttons, so I look forward immensely to throwing this in the rubbish and replacing it with something I'm more comfortable with. Outside I want to fit a 944S2/951 rear lower valance to finish off the styling at the back, they just look a little jacked up and incomplete as it sits I think.
Otherwise, the plan is to drive the hell out of it, and spend heaps on maintenance!
Thanks for looking!
