I know Lotus 7 based but a friend of mine has a Tiger 6 running a Pinto he may sell, he's moving to Holland in August so you might get a bargain. Not been on the road for years but all registered and in excellent condition and factory built so not so likely to spontaneously implode! I've been in it, it's very scary, but surely that's a positive.

Forgot about this thread! I know Lotus 7 based but a friend of mine has a Tiger 6 running a Pinto he may sell, he's moving to Holland in August so you might get a bargain. Also, when it comes to engines, I assume a change requires notification of some description? Will it need putting through another test with the new engine? I'd like to put a B234 Saab turbo lump in on.
And one more thing, with the 7 style, are there any preferences to the kit makers? A friend said to stay clear of Locost and Robin Hood ones.

Unless things have changed since I was into kitcars, no. No more of an issue than engine swaps in production cars. If anything, the kitcar insurers will be more accepting of it. If you're buying second-hand, the advice holds some water. Better quality kits like Westfield, Tiger or Dax are more easily assembled. Locosts and Robin Hoods are cheaper kits, usually more involving to build. So the lower end of the market has a higher chance of revealing a shoddily-built example. However, some die-hards prefer the challenging build over the higher cost and you can get some crackers if you look hard enough. Don't forget 'Locost' can extend from an entirely home-built thing and upwards.
