Thanks smeden More progress as I have put the locks, door handles and glass back in both rear doors. Another job has been to strip the rear light assembly as the base needs to be body colour and the alloy was corroded with the original paint lifting off. There are new chrome bezels to be put on later.

Heh mine are green because I had to pull them off the other Minor as all the new ones had beetle lights. Trafficators? I need to get a set for mine, they have been removed from the car. I want to wire the lever to a different circuit to the indicator though, so then I can cut power with a door switch so I don't snap them off by accident when climbing out of the car...

What a lovely build.
Must feel good seeing the progress.
Will be a happy owner.
My 1977 Audi 80 GLS Estate that I had, which now resides in a German museum, lived all it's life on the IOW. It had no rust either.

Thanks shielsy I have now started on re-assembling the brakes. The rear system on this early Morris is quite unusual as the drum is massive with the hole splined to slide onto the half shaft. There is also a small conical collett on the halfshaft together with the big castellated nut with a split pin to hold everything in place.

The front brakes had the original back plates but along with the car were new brake components and the later style backplates so I've swapped the backplates and started putting the slave cylinders in place.

The brakes on the NS are nearly finished now but I have had to order 6 "snail cam" adjusters as there were none with the car. I have also resprayed the dashboard glove box lids - The original looked a darker metallic brown/gold but when I cut the finish back it was much lighter so I went round the various car colour sprays and found a VW metallic Sand that was a very close match. Unfortunately the first can had obviously lost pressure as the paint jetted rather than sprayed. I did try a different nozzle but it was the same. The shop exchanged the can, I re-prepped the lid, and this is the result. I have also started to install the headlamp units.

Nice work, as ever.
It's amazing the quality of finish that can be achieved with rattle cans and patience.

It's very subtle the colour uses on this car, and surprisingly quite stylish which isn't a word I normally think of when I think of a Minor.

Hey! Minors can be stylish! That's not original wiring poking out of that headlight bowl, is it? O.o I found another colour under the paint on mine this evening. It appears some of it was green, too! I'm up to orange, red and green, with copper over the top. My dash lid is goldish, mind.

Thanks guys. Snail cams etc have arrived and so the rear brakes have been finished and the drum/hubs tightened in place. The handbrake cables have been part put in place. Attention has now moved to getting the front brakes finished and front suspension completed.

Exciting picture of the front suspension! Unfortunately I have the shoe return springs for 8" dia - and these are still the original 7" dia drums so I cannot replace the hub/drum yet. Varelse - yes it is the original wiring to the headlamps. I have taken out the original car loom though, as it had various additions over the years.

This is coming together very nicely indeed, it will almost be too nice to use when you're finished.

Thanks Vulgalour, it is due to go back down to the Isle of Wight so not too much use...... Radiator now in place, Wheels cleaned up and resprayed with new tires fitted, dashboard centre panel stripped for refurbishment - so progress maintained.

Looking better with every update. That type of air cleaner is an odd thing to see in a Minor engine bay, at least to my eyes, I can only surmise that most Minors I've seen have had this changed for a more modern version or Morris themselves changed it in the later cars.

Mine had the original oil bucket air filter. First time I'd seen one, haha. Pretty effective, mind. And it's not like restricted air flow is going to hinder the four shetland ponies much.
