They look good - but please put the rear arches back to stock! I'm not sure I could do the arches back to stock... Not only do I quite fancy them the way they are, I also think I'd be doing the previous owners a huge injustice who saved the car, built and designed the rear end back in 1987! I've finally typed the story up now, I'll post it in the next post (y)

Well I've finally sat down, read and digitised the brief background that came with the car... Enjoy! I'll also be adding to the story from the knowledge I have and of course my chapter.
"From eBay member "lizzydolphin" 28th December 2008
Hi
The brief history for the Zodiac.
It stood for many years on Birdsfoot Lane (Luton) before being bought by Justin Burch of St Margaret's Avenue (Luton). He welded the rear leaf spring hangers and put the sills on etc but he also rounded the rear arches and cut the boot wells off. The car was due to be customised and was about to receive a Rover V8 engine and box and it had the arches cut out for some big rubber but my dad spotted it and managed to buy it off him, Justin was already putting a V8 in a MK3 Zodiac.
It was me as a 15 year old and my dad who designed and built the back end as you see it now, the arches are MK1 Escort and the rear quarters and valance were bent up by my dad from sheet steel, lasted well considering that was 1987! The car was originally black and a local man called Andy who had just qualified as a panel beater put the Union Jack on the roof as he's just done the same to his Mums Mini. From here the car was passed on to Roger Rudolph who was a friend of my brother who painted it Silver! But he sold it on to someone who sprayed it white, the Union Jack survived all this time, then the car disappeared for a few years and turned back up in Luton as you see it now. Despite it being a bit scruffy it liked to go like bloody hell n back in '87 and could lay rubber if putting your foot down to turn right in Dunstable's terrible traffic. There was a man who lived in Caddington (Dunstable) and was always trying to persuade my dad to drive it in the classic rally's back then, the man in question used to race a MK9 Jag and had many wins under his belt (well would you argue with a MK9 in your prized restoration)
If the new owner is interested I can see if my dad still as any photo's of the car at the time.
Regards, Colin"
I've now found and contacted Colin and am waiting for a response off him regarding any more history or pictures of the car.
ALSO, I've found a sales receipt from 2008 from a postcode in Acocks Green. Checked it and it's literally 20 minutes from my house so I'm also going to go for a history scavenge there too ;-)

WooHooo!! Finished work today and went straight to Nottingham to pick up my sun visor. Fitted it but it's dark so no pics of the MonoBrow till tomorrow... Also on the way home I got a call off the GF telling me I had a large package (winkety wink wink) Celebrations! 'Twas my door cards! I didn't waste time in stripping them Nice cheap knife bends nicely to the flat board so I can pluck the grips out without crumbling them away 4 door cards and this is all I needed lol Typically one of the two bits of chrome I need has been bent. It's not half as bad as the front card chromes I repaired so it shouldn't be a problem. Can't wait to get them completed!

Scrub the door cards clean and wang them back up on eBay or wherever to claw some pennies back now you've got the bits you need, they look in reasonable nick. Looking forward to the visor pic, I do like an exterior visor on a Z car.

But still, I couldn't complete my car without two silly bits of trim so these may come as a big help to someone! I've worked from dark to dark again today I'm afraid so no visor pics yet...

nice bit of history all good stuff comes from Nottingham! Yes it's nice to have a story! The guy who I got the visor off sold his Highline 2 years ago and he said he was heavily regretting it, even more so after I made him aware of their rarity lol

I love this build but personally think the visor doesn't work with the wheels and how it's sitting.

Where did you find the visor? I need a proper metal one for my transit not some bent bit of plastic like everybody seems to fit on the new ones. Comiserations on the loss of the viva wheels though

Comiserations on the loss of the viva wheels though I got the visor off a chap on eBay who'd had it stashed away for years gathering dust so he decided to sell it...

Fastest turn-around evar! One rotten door now back with a fully rebuilt bottom half! This is the best door he's done by far... He's also whipped off door number 4 and whisked it away to his wonderful welding wonderland! After that returns he'll be taking one of the wings and the 1st door he did for a re-jig now he knows the curvature of the car. Can't wait! Wish I has some space to work, I'd of done my door cards today which would have been a bonus!

Because you have too many cool cars your account is chewing up bandwidth on your imaging host. It'll return to normal eventually, or you could upgrade or create another account for a particular vehicle. I have no experience of other imaging hosts so can't comment whether this is the norm
