Hey guys.....just signed up and thought what better way to introduce myself than share my build. i started this project october 2008 - starting with a 1976 body and 1969 chassis. I started off with a 1976 beetle i had since i was 15 - and acquired a 1969 chassis to IRS. First up was new heavy duty floorpans and IRS conversion with 944 Turbo a arms The body received a lot of panels - all genuine metal which took some finding! The body was then blasted and coated in kephos Then back to the chassis to fit the Porsche 915 5 speed gearbox... and a bit of mock up before prep and paint

Prep was an arduous task....it;s not one of my favorite things to do, but with the help of a close friend who happens to be a painter we got there in the end Over to the booth and craig worked his magic and then back to the chassis. The chassis was far from stock. Seam welded frame head and frame horns - modified for the gearbox Porsche 915 gearbox Porsche 996 brakes all round Porsche 944 rear suspension 5 bar Kafer brace 80mm narrowed front suspension Protech coil overs all round flow and return fuel lines installed for EFI CNC machined caliper brackets Blasted and coated chassis and running gear

Yes yes yes! Excellent project. I'm really getting the horn for "german look" and track inspired Beetles at the moment. Really fancy a fast road 1303.

On to the motor!! I always wanted to have a turbo lump....so the engine needed to be strong. It was based around a type iv motor to the following spec 71mm Genuine crank JE forged 96mm pistons I Beam rods Eurorace hardened barrels Eurorace turbo grind cam Type 1 lifter conversion steel push rods heavily modified heads (cant remeber spec at the mo) Porsche fan conversion Dry sumped. The engine itself basically wiped out the rest of my fund so it ran on carbs for 2 years and i am now on an EFI set up - next step will be turbo! on carbs it put out 148 bhp......with a turbo i am hoping to push 250 bhp After having it on display on volksworld they wanted to feature it in a magazine so got some fancy pics taken and now it gets used and abused So yeh....really enjoying using it .... been on a few holidays etc in it and the extra gear is by far my favorite mod! Just cant wait to get a turbo on it now

Awesome project! Followed a couple threads when you were building it and used some of the pics for reference when doing an IRS conversion - cheers!
Couple questions regarding the engine; was the headwork done by yourself or another company, if so who? and are the rods just the generic European Motor Works with ARP bolts? Again if so any opinion on quality..
Thanks in advance! Steven
