I bought this car eighteen months ago in a dismantled state, and intended to just slap it back together, but I tend to get too attached to these projects to just do half a job – it was obvious I’d gone past ‘just a quick job’ when I bought a plating tank to replate fasteners and brackets.
I finished the car back in mid August 2014, passed the MOT with a couple of advisories – now rectified - and then gave it a 500 mile shakedown run up to VW Action.
Since then I have done maybe 100 miles in it, she stays in the garage, dry and well clear of car park dingers.
She is an absolute hoot to drive, the coilovers are not too harsh, anyone who has driven a Mk2 GTI will know what a great drivers car they are, this one has the added bonus of a fair few more horses under the bonnet as well.
I’m only selling because I need a van to carry my kayaks and the kids about in, I’d wreck the Golf pretty quick
I appreciate that the price is strong for a mk2 but think it reflects the amount of work that has gone into the car to ensure it is properly sorted.
