Hi everyone, I've managed to acquire a full v6 mondeo brake setup for my 52 plate ford ka. So its disks all round basically. Problem being I'm not sure which brake lines and disks I'm ment to use and I'd rather ask than find out the hard way. Would the mondeo disks fit correctly both front and rear also which brake lines do I use? mondeo or ka? I know the rear will need flexis rather than a solid line but not sure if the fittings match between the two cars?
Finally am I right in thinking the mondeo hand brake cables have to be used on the ka to be able to be able to work correctly with the new disk setup?
Many thanks.

I would of thought the Mondeo hand brake cables would be massively too long , as for the fluid lines you should find that they will all fit togeather ok as most fittings will be m10 x 1 though on things like and pumps and bias valves they often use m12 x 1

I appreciate it is not the question you asked but is there any reason why you are changing the rear drums? Most disc brake setups I have used for the handbrake have been poor compared to drum setups and they seem to make little difference to the braking ability under normal conditions. On the fronts (especially if you have a Ka on solid discs) I do agree that they need some work.

I'd go with this personally Nothing wrong with the rear drum brakes if they are in good shape and adjusted properly. The front end may need the caliper mounting holes drilling out as I believe the mondeo calipers are m12 instead of m10. But do a trial fit up of the fronts first to see if they actually fit and the wheels clear them as well

The rear drums are very low in material and only just passed mot so that's the reason for upgrading

Just get new drums then! It will be cheaper and far easier than trying to fit mondeo rears to a ka, for no benefit. You don't need rear disks, let alone ones from a car twice as long and twice the weight!
Also, I'm fairly sure that they won't even come close to fitting, and for what it's worth, Fiesta vented disks and calipers will go straight on the front where mondeo ones will need work and the wheels won't fit anymore.

To get a standard A40 this low, you'd have to dig a hole to put it in

That's the one! Fiesta vented discs and calipers were said to be the mod to go for on Kas without vented brakes.
Of course you could rob a Ka of its brakes from a scrappy. Some 1144 pads and job done. The bonus! There will be no wheel swapping required, handy if you fancy trying something different or selling the car (as most people know selling a visually modified car is never all that easy).
