Hi all my RS turbo engine won't start again once warmed up??? Anyone experienced this before??? Any help appreciated

Try this see if it starts when its warm , assuming its earlier mfi setup undo the big jubilee clip that holds the fuel metering unit rubber intake on and depress the fuel flap plunger down a couple of times ,refit it and see if it starts !!!
If it does then you have issues Witt the metering unit itself

Fuel pump relays are well known for going on these. In between the two XR3is I have experienced I have changed three of them now. As a short term measure you could be naughty and use a jumper wire so as to see if it will start. Iffy joints tend to be the main reason although the relay does carry alot of current, so much that it gets fairly warm in operation (which can cause hot running issues; I once had to push our XR3i off the road because of this) and that in turn causes owners to try fitting an additional relay to take the strain.

MFi it's usually the cold start injector leaking and flooding the engine but it could be the dizzy, the ign moduals overheat and stop working when hot and or the internal earths burn out if it;s a blue cap dizzy ?
Do i take you've just fitted it or refitted it ?

Quite glad I don't have an RS Turbo! Jeepers... I don't wish to speak so soon but I have so far covered over 500 miles since buying it in my RST and it is running great. I would like to think that I am I enjoying the RST experience  . On the flipside of the coin my VW Beetle experience was not so great, yet they are one of the simplest engines to work on. The fault however was very simple. |

It's not the blue dizzy mate I've just put the engine in the car... It runs sweet just like I said doesn't start again when warm but was fine in the car before baffled me

Doesn't start as in slow cranking when hot or cranking fine but not firing ?
Had starters go very slow when hot,especially given location near exhaust and turbo on these...

I think i'd run it till hot enough to fault,then try and see if its spark or fuel your loosing then go from there...
Pull a plug lead off while it won't start,stick a plug in end of lead and see if you have a spark...?
