Maybe you should pass this onto Stigian for his flame throwing exhausts? One of the reasons I suspect for 'mañana' for the Bang Box is that these things are bl00dy dangerous. I wouldn't like to be in a vehicle when one is powered up which is why the turbine in the SpridJET will be externally started and, when running, the power umbilicals will be removed as the turbine is self-sustaining and the instrumentation will run on an interior battery. For those of you that like this stuff it's Speed Weekend in Årsunda soon and the Mad Vikings will be out in force. How about a 2000N thrust pulse jet sled between your legs

Saturday I saddled up the horse (well Peugeot LWB Hi-Top) and went off to collect the Lenham GT bodywork for the SpridJET. I could have used my trailer but I nearly lost the the Defender while trying to tow the horse box out of the field a week before. Very impressed with the Peugeot, cruises at 80mph (white van man) and did 30mpg. Brilliant! Rounded up the posse consisting of No. 1 Son and his mate Jake and 3 x MaccyD's breakfast and 130 miles later we arrived at Classic Cars of Kent. Very interesting place that prepares race cars for events like Goodwood Revival etc. Outside. Amazon and Lotus Cortina Piper GT SD1 and some Yank tank Sprite, Vitesse, Marcos and other stuff H van Smiley Lenham bodywork loaded Inside E=type, Mustang and others Two Lenhams, a TR and No. 1 Son not trying to drool Some old Beemer and a MuGBug 141 miles later, another MaccyD (oh the heartburn) and the Lenham bodywork is back in the Volcano Lair Need to get the Sprite shell fully stripped for blasting and galvanizing. No. 1 Son has some time on his hands and has volunteered so might have some soonish movement there.

Some speed stripping of the SpridJET shell ensued this weekend I've ordered a 'professional' bang box/ignitor from one of the guys on the JATO Forum but I also ordered a different solution (again) from China. China Post coughed these up on Friday It's a flyback driver and an ignition coil. The ignition coil seems to be a transformer for a CRT tube Went round to see my mate Rob who's doing some Arduino based EGT and RPM readouts, one each for the compressor and freepower turbines. Rob has agreed to help me wear the white coats, Einstein wigs and heavy rubber gloves when we light the Chinese 2kV kit up

Next will be the flux capacitor, and then Doc Brown will appear round the corner.

If it's the place I'm thinking of, I drive past them every time I go to the dump. Always something interesting lurking about there.

On Ebay now if anyone has a Chrysler LeBaron and fancies a go. It's a 7th generation engine with recuperator. Ebay number 322061350498 Seller states Update: Is in fact a 7th Generation Free Rotor Motor. 76-77 vintage. Only SEVEN of these motors were built. 3 of them went into test vehicles, and the remaining 4 were for Chrysler's R&D. This would be 1 of the 4 test engines. All internals appear to be there. The rotating regenerator, the compressor & power turbines. This is a rotating assembly. The regenerator wheel turns, as does the shaft it's meshed with, along with the compressor/oil pump shaft, and the power turbines that rotate the accessory drive pulley and the output shaft (trans). Everything turns in sync. It's difficult to find pictures of this engine complete, but from what I see, there's a box type unit missing from the front. That may be the starter unit, not sure. That and a couple units attached to the outside of the motor are not there. This could be for display, or monies invested into making this run again. Also, the transmission is just a hollowed out torque flight used for display purposes.

Go On...... I dare you, ........ Bid on it Nope, with the shedload (they're stored in a leaky shed!) of classic bikes I'm picking up at the weekend SWMBO has my nuts firmly in a vice and is preparing to tighten down on them. Sadly I am somewhat like this Disney fish
