That's looking alright mate, picked a pretty good day for it aswell You should treat the arch area with underseal or something, just for added protection.

Yeah the wind died down a lot today which was nice I was gunna sand it down by hand and prime it etc. once I'm happy with how much it's cut. Also bit of a surprise when I got in it and reversed it out, the p.a.s makes it so much easier because it feels the same as it did with the normal steels

Thanks you too haha, I just took it for a quick drive because I cut a bit more off and it's all good. Plastics on and then it's done. Edit: Just put the RR sticker on, it's a bit smaller than I remember haha. It's on the back window

Little update, the arches are totally done, there's no rub at all - whether its slow or fast, cornering or going over a speedbump, nothing. Minor problem came with putting the plastics back on, as you can see most of it is held on with the clips and then the bit by the wheel bolts in. Well, the area it goes into is a bit shot Also one side only has 2 clips at the top and none at the bottom so I'm not sure how it ever stayed on. So alternatively (unless anyone has a better idea, feel free to suggest haha) I'm thinking of bolting it on like people do with bolt-on arches. Probably in the places shown below. A lot of the cars I've seen have them around the edges only so i thought that would be alright to follow. like this All good though, it also did its 96 thousandth mile tonight

Windscreen sealer!
It'll never fall off and it won't look like it's bolted on.

I think I want to be able to get them off if I ever need to, but that'd definitely do the trick The trim is black and the bolts would be too so hopefully it wouldn't be too noticeable

Glue a small nut in there, then bolt it up as you would normally Or get it plastic welded. If you got a soldering iron and some plastic, fill the hole up with the melted plastic. Then let it cool and get the right sized threaded tap and re thread it. That should work possibly?? Plus make sure its well ventilated melted plastic stinks haha

Plus make sure its well ventilated melted plastic stinks haha I did that first bit, it wasn't quite enough to hold the whole thing on though due to the missing clips. It'll be alright I'll figure it out tomorrow haha. Ironically enough after all this I'm wheel shopping now, whether I'll actually buy anything is another story because the cheapest I've found are £200 w/o tires hmm

Did some little jobs today, painted the wheels since they've been mismatched for a while, they're all black now. I always knew the person I got them from had multiple different tires on them for some reason. But the sizes don't match up. The 8j's are 185/50/14 and 195/45/14 while the 9j's are 195/50/14 and 195/45/14.. There's a used tire place 5 mins from me (they're not worth buying brand new tires for really) so I'm going to see if they have any, I'd be happy with 185/45/14's all round, they would be a bit of a stretch but alright on the 9j's hopefully? I'm taking the Mk2 down for an mot in a few days and if it doesn't fail by much (or passes by some miracle) I could treat this to a brand new set of wheels and tires.

Got it all done and pieced together today, only got half way out the driveway until the plastic began to rub. Back to the drawing board..

Just to be sure I gave it a quick b-road run, there's a notoriously bumpy bit halfway along it so it was a good test to see if it really worked. Had no issues at all, I'm really happy with it.

Went to get tires today, walked in, gave the sizes etc and they said it was a weird size (185/50/14) and asked what they were for. Explained all my tires didn't match so was just after some new ones, but they weren't having it. Asked me to bring the car in because they "needed to see it" and then when they saw it they didn't want anything to do with it. So that's out the window, if anyone knows of anywhere in the Bedfordshire area that would do it it'd be much appreciated For now it's still on curse word tires, really dirty because of the blissful English weather too. I bought a brand new (last resort, I usually buy 2nd hand stuff) rear bumper too, it's the facelift Campus one with the big lip on it to match the front. Should arrive soon and make the rear end a little easier on the eyes. I still think it's a little nose heavy too

Thanks! It's slowly getting there, finally got some money kicking around for a new set of wheels so I'm on the lookout. The new rear bumper will be a big improvement, and I've got something else in the pipeline that'll be good too

Been treated to one of the plastic trims snapping today, it's still on but it's really fragile. Need to now somehow find another because I'm doubting whether fibreglassing will hold it together? Edit: Been on the phone to everyone that's breaking a 5, nobody has that piece hmm

Trim holding together for now, far from ideal but it'll do until I find a new piece to replace it. No real reason but pictures anyway In the picture below you can see the damage to it, the area that's damaged is the bit that holds it on at the back below the petrol cap Gave it a much needed clean when I got home too. Then rinsed etc before being parked up and left to dry with all the others. I would have done them all but it's below 0 outside so I just did the 5. Green Escort should be having its MoT tomorrow, fingers crossed it'll make it there! broke down on the way to the MoT
