So after a fun year of having this, my second 5: I thought it would be good to continue the saga and get another. I took all the good bits off the one above and then sold what was left, which has made way for this:

I gotta say, Reno 5's aren't really my thing, but WoW, fair play, that one is very tidy. Wasn't there one on that well known auction site the other week, a white one with 202 miles if I remember correctly. Yours does look almost factory fresh though. Loving the 205, now they are one car I do love.

That really is a beaut! I'd leave the roofrack off, keep the clean look. Will your banded steels fit under the standard arches?

I spotted that for sale the other day, it looks very nice. Here is mine from a few years back. I might have the original style wheel trims of an early one still somewhere of my brothers old one.

That one's spot on mate, it doesn't take away the originality but it's low enough to still look good. Those Gtt steels are nice too, wouldn't mind a set for this.. And thanks all for the comments, I'll take some nice photos soon. Hoping the rear torsion bar is gunna be as forgiving as it was on my white one

They were all that was left from my Brothers car after it got written off and he bought them new back in about 87 ! I fitted a van rear beam and mix and matched the front suspension so it ended up running that low with standard GTT front springs. I seem to put this picture on here every time a new R5 thread pops up. I need to find a really nice blue one like my first car and have a play. I wanted to build a Gordini headed 1.4 non turbo with Webers but I got sidetracked with other things. Look forward to seeing what you get up to with this.

It did look a very clean, tidy and close to as new (bar a little surface rust on suspension etc). A very nice buy for someone who can justify/afford it. There was an unregistered Hillman Avenger on there last year or year before. That sold for £7,600 I think it was. That had never had a set of plates screwed on to it, plastic covers on seats and paper between the wheel trims that hadn't been fitted before. Wish I could have had that one. Looking forward to seeing what you do to this 5.

First things I'll be doing with this are mostly just swapping all the bits from the old one over. Stereo, steering wheel + boss, springs, wind deflectors, and the rack if it suits it. New wheels would come later on, something 13" and a reasonable width, probably ATS Classics or Allycats. Debating also whether to remove the rear wiper or not, because some argue that it takes away from the originality which is partly true, but others would argue that it looks so much cleaner without it. Unlike the old one, badges will be staying as well as the plastics along the side. It's basically going to be the opposite sort of thing - that one was tatty and more to my taste, and definitely more fun to drive (1.4 + stripped out >> 1.1 + full interior), whereas this will be mostly standard with a few bits changed, it'll work out trust me, I know and respect the originality of it but like a lot of cars, it's just a base for better things to come..
