Post got messed up a bit so I'll retype from my bad memory. Anyway After yesterday's breakdown, I got it home with the repaired hose. Today I took the hose from my old r5 and used that since it's fine. No thermostat at the moment, I'll put a new one in though. Ordered a fan switch too since the fan doesn't work. Pretty happy because aside from the burst hose there appears to be no damage. It's running good, hopefully it'll make it to Milton Keynes tomorrow. Needed a good clean too And after a quick clean.. All good

Also I'm gunna get a temperature gauge (any recommendations?) too. Until that stuff arrives, I'm going to take the fan switch from the old 5 in the hope that that sorts it for the time being. It runs and drives fine but as soon as it's stuck in traffic it will just overheat because the fan doesn't come on. The old one is becoming very handy as a parts car, I've taken a lot of bits off it already so I'm gunna hold on to it for a while because I always seem to need something.

Take the fan and switch off it then haha. Or just hook it up to perm on or on a switch instead. Better than cooking it.

Yeah I may as well just switch the whole thing over. I've got the morning off tomorrow so I'll do that thanks

Power steering gone today, probably a simple fix but I really prefer the feel of not having it so I'll just leave it. Poverty spec 5's like this and my old one never came with it anyway

This is really cool. I always liked your white one as well. I hope you ever find some cool wheels to fill these arches while actually working, haha

That's my exact problem right now haha. Need a compromise between the banded steels and the regular steels. Some 13 x 5.5/6.0 Allycats or Wellers would be perfect. I'm always on the lookout for some..

So every once in a while this appears, in both rear windows Not really sure what it is or why it's there. Maybe it's haunted. Made a new to do list, little things like fixing the speakers, heater, rear light etc. Waiting for a sunny day so I can disassemble the rack to sand it down, repaint it, and make a few refinements. I'm thinking of just making another, this one is a bit too industrial looking imo. Something that's a bit less bulky and sits closer to the roof would be nice. Also going to give the rear torsion bar another go, hopefully since it had been lowered recently it should be a bit more eager to budge this time..

Rack proves useful for stuff that wouldn't normally fit inside the car.

Sad-ish news, I sold the white 5 this afternoon. No idea what the guy's intentions are, but I took a lot off it before I let it go. The good news is that now I've gotten rid of something and that I've also got a reliable daily, I can put my focus back on the Escort. It's looking a little sorry for itself but the money from selling the white 5 will go into some bits for the Escort. The bad news is that when it's done I'll have to decide between them..

That's good news mate. Don't sell one just put them on limited mileage policy's could be cheaper than you think. Oh yeah I spoke to a guy about some alleycat wheels just awaiting on him to speak to his boy about them

The 5 and the Williams were parked side by side this morning so here's a rare photo of them together

Been thinking a fair bit about wheels etc, it's the big dilemma of this car at the moment. I really like the look of these Also I may try the 15 x 8's but they're probably going to be an even worse fit. Have access to a proper arch rolling tool so making the 14 x 9's fit neatly is a possibility. The 14's are appealing because they fill the arches better than 13's, but I could go for 13's with a slightly higher profile tire. The original steels are nice but I do fancy something a bit different. A bit of camber (really not much at all, I hate the ridiculous camber craze) could maybe tuck the rear wheels in a little bit? And a bonus photo from Thursday

I'm probably going to try the 15 x 8's tomorrow, they're the white extreme offset ones from the ED7. Maybe even the 3 spokes too haha, but I'm not sure they'd look right on this. The white rallye steels would look good I reckon

I think you should try looking for 13s still, they just need the right tyres. I had 13x7s on my 205 and that worked well, with 165/65s. Gives a little bit of stretch, but still fills the arches. 165/55 or 175/50s just look lost in there. The taller sidewall is easier to tuck on flat rear arches too.

That 205 looks awesome, the 13's fit it well. I'm rethinking again now haha, you've proved a really good point. Some 13 x 6/7's with 165/65's or 175/65's would be nice, I'll keep an eye out, thanks for the advice
