As Bazza says, ^^^ report the log book theft to DVLA, they will issue a fresh V5 with a new unique reference number to prevent someone from taxing a ringed car on your logbook. I never keep logbooks in cars anymore for this very reason, all locked up safe in the house these days....

Jesus, I'm glad you got it back! It's heart stopping when you realise it's gone isn't it. Wheels are an easy (although as said, expensive) fix and the V5 should be sortable by the sounds of it.
Consider yourself VERY lucky after the work you've put in

Glad you got it back. Reading through the thread - the question re. it listing to one side. Someone I've read that it was a common issue with certain models - I've read a debate whether the springs are sided. If you get them back to front the car lists to one side. If I can find the information I'll pass it on. Mine

I'm so relieved for you that you got this back so quickly and relatively unscathed!
For the listing thing, some 70s Alfa Romeos have sided spring pans so they sit slightly higher on one side on purpose. When the driver gets in the car levels out. I wouldn't have believed this had I not been working on one recently, very strange but supposedly to give better and more balanced handling for the determined bachelor.

I found the bit I'd read about HC springs - apparently many of the OHV engined cars had sided springs, and it is common for them to lean to one side - usually the driver's side. Back in the day the dealers used to drop the rear o/s spring, put a couple of big washers in the top mount and stick it back together again. After a while the owner comes back complaining it's now leaning the other way - and they remove the washers.
So I've heard anyway....

At least they had the "decency" to leave it on bricks. The thieves around here usually joyride then burn the thing.
I see quite a few burnt out wrecks coming through the salvage auctions here.

What ^ he said.... Glad you got the old girl back relatively unscathed, are you going to go for similar wheels? Similar? I'm going to get MY wheels back! Got a very strong lead on a local known thief who just so happens to be building a Mini... Drives past my house and car every day, knows the area really well, stupid enough to do something so blatant... I'll keep people posted as to how that goes. But for now, I'm just waiting for my bonnet catch and fuel cap to arrive off eBay!

Yee gods, the nerve of it. If it turns out he's got them, not sure how I could stop myself from paying him a visit.
I really can't understand the mentality of some people.
