Good to meet you too Plain looking series/defender wheels look amazing banded, I have a set of defender rostyles and wondered how they would band... Amazingly according to Sowen's picture! OMG!! I just googled and found this, I take it these are banded too HNNNNGG Hi, no, they look like forward control or 1 ton wheels. And they go for serious money when they come up for sale. Colin Another vote for forward control rims, I doubt they are particularly wide so not worth pursuing by most off-roaders, best left for the collectors to argue over. That's close to the look I want on my series

I had a set of late model Defender Rostyles banded by James P last year and fitted them to my early Range Rover, they looked ace! Big fan of that!

Oooooh. Me likey. You have renewed my faith in them now. I finished priming the rim wells last night and put the first coat of white on the faces, should have them fully painted by the weekend, and given a week or so for the paint to cure they'll be ready for tyres and fitting in two weeks or so Just got to check clearance against the wonky front corner bumper caps on my Disco....

I just googled and found this, I take it these are banded too HNNNNGG Hi, no, they look like forward control or 1 ton wheels. And they go for serious money when they come up for sale. Colin Hi, My name is daan, I joined this board today, after I saw a pic of my truck on here by chance. Yes, I had my wheels banded. They are based on TD5 defender wheels, which have a welded centre. I used to run modular wheels, but it didn't suit the car. Modular wheels are 7x16 with a 8mm offset. Landrover wheels are 5.5x16 with a 33 mm offset. To get to the same offset as a modular (or 8 spoke) wheel, it needs banding by 2"; endresult is a 7.5x16 landrover wheel with 8mm offset, like a modular wheel. I had the work done by a dutch specialist, . There are several options in the uk, but main reason for choosing him is that he can weld beads on the rim to turn a tube type wheel into a tubeless wheel. The beads are quite important to me because I need to keep the tyres on the wheel at low pressures while offroading. I still run a tube for this reason as well. velgenverbreden also happened to be located in the village where my parents live (I am dutch, but live in the uk) Tyre size is a 35x10.5x16 simex tyre, with a 10:00x16 tube. finished result, with valve protector:
rims only, see the band in the wheel well and the welded beads on the rim:
The 1 ton rim is only 6.5" wide and has an offset of 20 mm, only about 1/2" further outboard from a standard land rover wheel. They are also very expensive, as mentioned. Hope that helps, Daan

I love the little valve protector. That's a cool little detail. I may steal that idea. I snaffled these locally from the bay of Evil for £20 Gonna drop them off at Essex Banded Wheels after payday.
