My current daily that I got in Feb (work scheme - they get changed every 4 months or so) Holden Commodore SSV Sportswagon. It isn't terribly sensible for a 120 km round trip to work since it does 12 litres / 100km (due to the 6.2 litre V8) so I visit the petrol station every 4 days. It is the last Aussie built Commodore for me - it'll be gone by mid-year and I can't get another one because they've been pulled from the scheme

This is my elderly, well it is 17yo, Primera that I bought six years ago for £550 to replace another Primera. It passed its MoT today with no advisories, hurrah. Who needs a new car costing many many pounds? Not me.

This is my elderly, well it is 17yo, Primera that I bought six years ago for £550 to replace another Primera. It passed its MoT today with no advisories, hurrah. Who needs a new car costing many many pounds? Not me. Amazing things. A friend needed a car quick about 18 months ago after his starship milage ZT became a joke w/r fuel pumps. After a couple of weeks of putting 500 miles a week on a 1litre hire car i found him a skymera at £300 ish. He hated it as it "looked awful, and not cool" (he's 32). Anyway, made an offer, rejected. Left it on bids on bay. FFWD a week, and one Sunday night he's handing over £120 for one the same as above, 1.8. 3 owners (all family). And it's got £50 of fuel in it, everything works and 6-8 months test on it. Come test time, a pair of part works for £20... And through it went. He's currently "find ding himself" in Australia. It's dumped in his garage on a trickle charger, waiting for him.

Primeras are great, very reliable and cheap. My first one was a 1.6 that I bought for £900 from a friend, it should have been £1500 at that time. I drove it for early 10 years with no problems, indeed never even changed a hose! Just a few service items and a starter motor. It finally failed the MoT on rust and a few other issues so I sold it for £100 to a breakers and they banger raced it. My current one is a 1.8 Sport, goes quite well and is as solid as a rock. I should really buy a few more and stockpile them.

Just stopped using this, the best, most reliable, most comfortable and most frugal car I have ever owned: and started using this: Had been off the road for 4 years, I'm sure it will prove to be just as reliable...

However, I suspect it won't die, for a long time

Bought this for my 100 mile commute, 173,000 miles in five years since new.. Prior to this it was a string of E39 or diesel Rabbits. I do 35-45k a year so I decided to get something newer as I was wearing out retros left and right. Putting it to driving use this week, Toledo Ohio to Chicago, Illinois. THEN to Nashville, Tennessee to see my brother run a marathon. Then reverse that. 2500 miles in Thurs-Sunday, luckily I had some Hilton points so we aren't staying in the car or a tent.

and my modern daily. Me too! I actually really enjoy driving mine, mines a diesel though and would benefit from a few more horses I think.

A 2007 Focus 1800 Ghia that came up cheap cos the owners forgot to put oil in it ::)It's not a bad car but after an R75 turbo it lacks a little in the refinement and performance stakes! However, I'm currently alternating it with this, a sub poverty spec Mk1 Metro 1.0 finished in a lovely shade of brown Well, the Metro's still here but I got bored of the Focus and sacked it off in favour of a Freelander 1 TD4, as it would be better for pulling the car trailer. It's also kept me entertained by behaving in a typically British fashion from the day I got it. Example? Within seven days of purchase it blew a CROWNwheel bolt out the rear diff, and my mate who works for a specialist said they'd never seen one do it!

Mechanic's rule #1... If the car works, anything left on the floor after you finished wasn't needed in the first place

Nice pairing[/quote I know of a very nice Alfa like that for sale, same colour but I think it's the coupe version, twinspark I think. 3,250 of your pounds and drive it away.

I'm driving this around until my Cressida is finished, absolutely brilliant machine, everything works, literally everything, 245bhp on tap silent cruising or slightly less silent if pressing on. 140,000 miles feels like a brand new car. I will be sorry to see it go.
