Great weekend, Castle Combe on saturday was really good with the parade laps i was entered in to being paced more like a track session... all kinds of cars overtook me rs2000s, cosworths to name a couple although i did overtake one car but it was breaking down as i went past . A few of my favourites from the day and a couple of mine below... Next to my brothers mk1 frs On the "parade" laps Then today i went to Prospect Park for the car show there, only stayed a few hours but there were a few nice cars on display. So as said a great weekend and the car was great, back to daily driver duties tomorrow. Regards, Matt

Had the afternoon off work so i serviced the fiesta today. I replaced the rotor arm, distributor cap, oil & filter, air filter and the rocker cover gasket. I only replaced the spark plugs a few thousand miles ago so they are fine for now. Every thing is so easy to change which makes servicing very painless. Everything still looks in good condition considering the age. Not sure what i'm doing next, have to wait and see... Regards, Matt

First job of the month done, got the new exhaust fitted this week. Wasn't the easiest laying on the floor trying to get it in place on my own but it was a nice little job for the evening. Next up is the carburettor... hopefully! Regards, Matt

Thanks for the interest/comments. Your mk2 looks good Russ. Didn't realise it had been so long! Although to be honest not much has changed, the past month has been really busy with work in the week and shows/race meetings at the weekends. I nearly put the car up for sale a couple of weeks back though! However i should start getting more bits done from now on. I still haven't replaced the carb which I've been wanting to do for ages! So this should be next, I'm also going to change the wheel colour for something a bit marmite...most will probably hate . Got a few other bits i want to get done as well. I noticed i had started to lose coolant, although not bad enough to leave puddles! I had a quick look and the radiator had started to leak around the bottom corner near the drain plug so before it failed i ordered a new part and fitted it yesterday evening, a nice painless job thankfully . That's really the only major thing I've done, i wanted to get September out the way before starting to do more bits so updates should be more frequent from now on. However i've been to some great shows and race events in the past month and the fiestas been brilliant throughout, it really is nice to drive. Old unit was leaking... Nice new radiator... Regards, Matt

So today was productive, i got the inlet manifold gasket replaced and started to fit the new carburettor today. Only issue i had was one of the manifold bolts snapped off which meant a trip to my local town to get an extractor and a pack of bolts. A small cost and only a little issue to resolve. Once sorted i cleaned up the manifold and cylinder head ready for the new gasket. Fitting was issue free and i started fitting the new carburettor, as i've got a free weekend i didn't feel the need to rush so once it was fitted in place with new studs/bolts i re-connected the throttle cable and called it a day. Also chose my new wheel colour so i shall be picking the paint up next week! Something wrong there Manifold removed (before being cleaned) Nice new gasket New gasket and manifold re-fitted Old vs New Current state Should be running again tomorrow morning! Regards, Matt

Finished fitting the carburettor this morning and after a small amount of tweaking it runs really nice . Definitely the most expensive part i've changed so far but it's worth it as the VV carburettor isn't known for being a great carburettor. No leaks from the manifold either which is a bonus! It's under there somewhere... Next to do is repaint the wheels... Regards, Matt

Collected the paint for my wheels after work today , as previously said it's a marmite colour choice for the car but I thought it would be different! Although it's only a small cost if i want to change it in the future. The colour i'm going with is Ferrari Oro metallic Regards, Matt
