Adding a speedometer to a mixed bag drivetrain

Any ideas on adding a speedometer to my car it currently runs off a cable but new gearbox has no drive for that , was going to put an electric clock into dash but what do ye lads run em off , abs sensor on driveshaft and a pulse converter ? Can anyone talk me try what ye have done thanks

use an old smart phone that has GPS & down load a speedo app from google play store. 'Speed view' or 'GPS Hud' to name a couple,You can even have a heads up display that reflects onto your windscreen.....works very well,

Speedview is very good (even the free one) what are the MOT regarding this though?

GPS is no good for MOT, it doesn't work in tunnels etc. I fitted a Koso speedo to the Midas and used the heads of the studs on the rear hub as a sender.

Buy an ABS ring for your driveshaft, then get an aftermarket electronic (adjustable) speedo.

I've never had a problem with MOT's using a smart phone app'....., its only recently that the speedo can be a fail...but if you have speedo fitted, & it looks ok it should be fine.
If your MOT man fails it, then he's real anal & its time to find another MOT garage!

A speedometer is meant to be tested these days but many do not.

When I had this issue I went with an aftermarket speedometer setup with the sensor working off the propshaft bolts. What car is it?

You can buy universal sensors from VDO and Smiths but I would want something which worked with your speed through either a control box if they exist or with the right sensor. ABS ring is not a bad shout.
