Seriously struggling here got the new cable from porsche opc, thought it was the wrong one but been asssured several times it is correct based on my chassis number and reg number. Anyway, the snapped one I had that I removed was longer and had a metal hoop to fit to the clutch pedal, the replacement has a plastic hoop for the pedal end. Can't get it to fit on the pedal any tips? Anyone replaced one? Looks like it should fit but getting no joy

How hard is it to change? The only reason I would go new is to also ensure that you have a nice smooth pedal action. This does vary from car to car as well as the state of the clutch. For instance in the following examples:
1) Renault Espace - Smoother change and slightly lighter, but still very heavy (that had a shot clutch with 150k on it!)
2) Peugeot 306 GTI-6 - These are known for cooking clutch cables and making them heavy and with a moving biting point (the adjuster in the cable dries out) ; It made it alot smoother an a little lighter.
3) Peugeot 306 DTurbo - This became smoother (alot) after the clutch change but not much lighter (a good clutch change - where a good clutch was used along with new release shaft bushes (greased) transformed it).
4) Pug 106 GTi - That had to be one of the biggest differences in terms of clutch feel - lighter and smoother quite notably.
5) Pug 205 GTi - The cable on that car gave up the ghost, and it had a fresh clutch. A new cable made that clutch far easier to use.
Does anyone have a photo of a later cable to see whether it is yours? It is strange how the new item does not fit (it is possible that bits were switched around for the reason you found in the past : My Escort now has a number of MkIV (and even MkV!) bits on it due to the power upgrades).
Do you have any pics of the cable and pics of the problem you are having? I take it the new cable is possibly too short?

It's the actual connector on the pedal end that is now plastic rather than metal? Just wont go over the bit on the pedal. Anyway, update got a 2nd hand one from the same year car for 20 quid posted so that should fit. Annoying that I didn't do this in the 1st place, hopefully I can return the other one to porsche....even more annoying that I recently forked out nearly 600 quid to have a new full clutch fitted
