That is an astonishing amount of effort, love it. I love the wheel choice too, simply because it creates a look that's guaranteed to annoy people on forums

looks like a great level of fit and finish, not my cup of tea but very well executed.

I do wonder with builds like this whether it feels like driving a Merc when you're behind the wheel, in which case why not have a merc... I'd prefer some hint of truck inside, e.g. dash top or steering wheel, just to feel like you're driving a rad 50s pick up.

Exactly, what's the point? If you want an old truck drive an old truck. If you want to drive a Merc I pity the fool.

I like the fact he's used the Merc wheels as it continues the theme but agree they look a bit cack.

If its to loud your to old...I drive a retro to be different....I did it because I can...
I also am not keen on the wheels and possibly feel it might be an old truck on an ML chassis, I'm not sure if an ML has a chassis but someone with an amazing amount of skill has actually done something different and to an amazing level and your still moaning. come on people happy thoughts apart from the fact its Christmas truthfully
wouldn't we all give our right arm to have the skill time or money to have that on the drive.

Think you're missing the (/my) point a bit...

I wholeheartedly agree that someone has gone to a fantastic amount of effort to achieve this, now you mention it, it might well be a body swap on an ML (the bonnet is quite different to a 57 truck) and the execution is astonishing like ElWoody says.

however, imagine sitting at the wheel...: Looks like a merc, feels like a merc, drives like a merc. You'd have to look in shop windows to remind yourself you're not in one!

If you're going to build a complete custom blend of a 57 Chevy and a Benz, why not have a custom interior with elements of Chevy instead of 100% pure benz?

I am missing the point its an old looking truck done in a modern style, isn't every modified/custom car
done with the same intention make it either faster handle better or more comfortable OR stand out and get people
to notice so this truck ticks all the boxes is it not badge snobbery (possible not a real word)that because it still has the merc badge on some parts instead of paying for an accepted brand aftermarket replacement that has got people talking. Don't company's buy old Porsches and put all new modern Porsche running gear and charge a fortune for them thinking about it and E type jags and everyone thinks there great.
All I was trying to saying was... if you don't have something nice to say ...

merc MLs are seperate chassis, so a rebody is a distinct possibility. they're hardy technologically sophisticated compared to mercs cars though. in fact they're verging on agricultural.

The Hood is a 57 truck hood, however it's been welded on and blended in, and a smaller opening cut out into the top of it.

OK I'll cave merc ML interiors are terrible the plastic IS the worst cheapest plastic you can get the cup holders work for about a month then wont stay closed and the leather isn't a patch on proper old leather like
in an old jag that still smells of leather 40 years on. The trucks you put up are what you expect a custom truck to look like and I love them and would REALLY like one, I do agree with you I just feel if I had the skills to do what they have done I would be gutted when people say stuff that doesn't need saying to loosely quote rocky horror ... I didn't build it for you. I know you need critics and wouldn't want to be surrounded by licking yes men or you would end up like some spoilt rich brat that's never been told no but surely criticisms should only be told to good friends that you have a mutual respect for and could actually physically help make something better after you've upset them by saying there is a better way than the route they took.
Bloody hell how did we get drawn into this...back to THAT truck it looks to me (i'm lazy just looked at the pictures here haven't googled it)like an American chopper type build that has been put together for someone else with a big wallet like (I hate even saying it)will I am (what a knob)springs to mind.
The hole paragraph above reminds me of why I don't comment on stuff much.
