Okay so I've ordered some books, but it'll take some time before they arrive so I hope someone on eher emight be in the know. My Daimler v8 is running two SU HD6 carbs that I'd like to replace with some independent runner carbs. I've looked at DCNFs like on many 60degree Ferrari V8/12s. They are most likely too long to be able to stack them close enough on the Daimler V8. The other option is either Weber IDFs or Dellorte DRLAs. My question is canthe be mounted across the V8 or donthey have to be mounted along the V? I understand access for tuning might become difficult mounted across, but the look would be just as good as the DCNFs I'm especially worried with the floats not working properly if mounted across the V(?).

Across the v is ok in most instances ,was quite a popular kit on essex v6 Scimiter and early colone cars,IIEC Merreks sit this way 3xDCNF on a v6 manifold should be easier to make or adapt too.floats not a problem as its generaly the correct way think about FWD transverse with 2 x DCNF

Thanks tuner. I know DCNFs can be mounted across, but can IDFs or DRLAs be mount this way?

Yupp, also had an offer from Mr Blegvad in Sweden who makes bespoke manifolds for the IDFs along the V. However I'd like to mount them across (east west). Oh and Mr Blegvad wants. Uk£3000 for his manifolds

the advantage of the cross over manifold is more mid range torque due to increased runner length. you cannot put carbs designed as a downdraught on its side as the float wont work. side-draught or down-draught has to be just that. saying that there is a few degrees angle you can get away with. having a side draught slightly inclined up a few degrees will stop fuel dribbling out of the trumpet. about 5 degrees is the recommended max and the float level will need to be adjusted to compensate. that manifold was used in 1964. it's a Buick V8 just predating the Rover buy out. pulls like a train with that manifold and carb set up. just makes removing the rocker covers a bit of a pain though.

Thanks, but there will not be space enough to fit DCOEs like in the picture as my bonnet bulge is not wide enough and I will not modify it further. So the carbs will need to be upright like Larry Ligas Daimler SP250 www.britishracecar.com/LarryLigas-Daimler-SP250.htmOr if possible turned 90 degrees if the floats will allow?

Check how much Bogg Brothers would charge hereThanks Frankenhealey, but it might be difficult getting the manifold made some 5500 kms from home
