1988 E30 BMW Cabriolet (with hard top in matching custom paint job) The engine is a 2.8 block modified with an M-sport top end (more details to follow) Was originally an Alpina model but has been seriously customised, the alpina alloy wheels have remained though! The two tone leather interior with Alpina stitched in the head rests. The paint work is a one off custom job with a flip colour and spin drift (the glitter that you can see in the paintwork on the enlarged pictures) Recent new hood as well as the matching custom paint hard top. Huge sound system with two 12" subs set up in the boot and fibre glass custom speaker pods and speakers in the doors, tv screens in the head rests and a flip out screen up front. Just popping this up on here to get a rough idea of what people think they'd be prepared to pay for this if it's your kind of car! Any questions ask away!    |

As it stands I agree, start at £5k but it's a very narrow marketplace, not many buyers who want a heavily modded car AND have access to decent money. Get ready for a 1000 chancers making silly offers or swaps for half finished 'projects'.
I can't help but think it would have sold a lot quicker and for more money had it still looked a bit more Alpina like. If it is a genuine Alpina car then the value's in its Alpina heritage. Does it still have it's original Alpina build plates under the bonnet and on the dash?
If I were selling I'd include pictures of the Alpina interior and the build plates if they're still on the car. Straight away you'll separate your car from all the modded 318i cabs with Alpina wheels. A fancy paint job is nice, but it's the Alpina heritage that will sell that car.
Oh, and apparently they sell for less with hard tops. Do yourself a favour, let me dispose of that old hard top for you, and let the money roll in.

One last thing, before you sell it put a new front plate on, the broken plate does it no favours.
Is that the original reg or has it been owned by an 'urban horticulturalist' with a cheeky private plate?

Cheers for taking the time to reply  It's not actually for sale was more curiosity! I totally agree about the chancers I was selling a 1953 oval beetle a while ago and had someone say they'd do me a favour and give me £1500 when it was mot'd and on the road, you've gotta love 'em :-p Alpina touches are still there to give it heritage but you're right they're pretty much all that's left as its been modded a lot. The front plate is already replaced its had an mot since then so had to. It's actually the original plate randomly! There was a show plate on it at one point that tipped it's hat to the horticulturists reference |

I`m REALLY REALLY hoping that this isn`t a genuine Alpina! I`m pretty sure it won`t be, but if it is, I am feeling physically sick right now.

I was an avid Max Power reader in the 90's, and back then lived this kind of thing. I'll have a shuffle through all the old magazines I've got and see what comes up. |
