Ford P100 pickups. They were the bootleggers vehicle of choice, and Customs crushed everyone of them that they seized to stop them going to auction to be purchased by more bootleggers. Audi 80 Sport (the 1988/89 model) Cavalier SRi 130 (mid 1980;s model, the MkII was it?) I had a Cavalier SR, like an SRi but carb fed. Never saw another. Bought it in 1989, it was an '83 car. It was my first car with spoilers, alloys and Recaros. I was 18 and well chuffed with it. The mk 2 cabrio is another candidate, they were quick for a Cavalier too. The mk 3 Cavalier GSi, especially the 4x4, will be a classic. Huge BTCC link there. I know of one near me but off the road and that's the only one I've seen in years. Can't believe the Calibra hasn't been mentioned, rare car these days and turbo cars were quick.

I had an E registration SRi in metallic red around 10 years ago. Lovely thing, thrashed it everywhere, and couldn't kill it. Handled really well, and it felt very light compared to later Cavaliers.

Can't believe the Calibra hasn't been mentioned, rare car these days and turbo cars were quick. I'd never had any interest in the Calibra whatsoever until I drove a V6 a couple of years ago. After that, I could kinda see the appeal...! DSC_1802 by dbizzle_, on Flickr DSC_1798 by dbizzle_, on Flickr DSC_1803 by dbizzle_, on Flickr

Had a yellow 16v calibra few years ago swapped it for a astra gsi, kept it for a while and sold it on. Then just by chance I seen it was going through a local car auctions so ended up buying it again.

A car I haven't seen for a good 20 years astra belmont sri any of them left? One of the mechanics at a nearby garage has a metallic green one as their daily driver. There are a couple around Hartlepool too!

That's better than the one I bought in 1989! It's also only the second SR I've ever seen. Good find that man.

Suzuki Ignis Sport I really want one! Toyota Yaris T-sport Very similar to the Ignis, my girlfriends has one and I love its quirky features and simple construction MK1 Seat Leon Cupra (R) The cheapest way to get the VAG 1.8T when new (I think?)

100% the mk1 Saxo VTS(16v) and the 106 Rallye(8v). I'm tempted to start buying up the unique bits for these cars like standard airbox's and oem backboxes as they'll be rare as hell soon. All the young lads who had brand new ones when they were 17/18 are now into their 30's and nostalgia will start kicking in. "Oh, where have they all gone?....."

Have you seen how many 106 Rallyes have gti/vts engines now! Buying up the 1.3/1.6 8v's and interiors could be a good move.

Mk3 and Mk4 (I think the Mk4's only lasted 2 years before becoming a mk5) Transits, they're getting rare now especially the LWB twin wheelers, when was last time you saw a pre smiley (mk 5) transit?
And if anybody has a nice Mk3 for sale I could well be interested to park up for a few years...
Mk4 Escort XR3i's and cab's as well while they are still unloved, buy the best one's you can find and squirrel them away.

^^ Good shout on the Transits sir...!!! They will be pretty much extinct in the next few years so saving the good ones makes a heap of sense!

Cars that look a bit weird generally end up being revered classics - look at the original reactions to the Multipla, versus the admiration it receives now. So, my three hot tips in this area: The Nissan Juke. The Citroen C4 Cactus. ...and of course, the good ol' Renault Avantime (which is pretty much a classic already, actually).

^^ That Avantime is guaranteed to be a classic at some juncture... Also, if that's in the frame then the Vel Satis has to be there too...
How about the VX220 by Vauxhall?! That will be ragged to death on many a track day so any original survivors will be hard to find very soon indeed...
At the top of the tree though (for me at least) has to be the Jaguar XJ6 (X350 model) as that came and went without really getting its foot in the door as it were...!!! That will be a classic as it's construction is unique and it's the last of the 'retro' looking XJ's...! Watch this space...

My favourite of my dad's cars when i was growing up was an F reg Astra Belmont Estate in red. I can't recall ever seeing a Belmont estate. Wasn't a Belmont just an Astra with a boot? That then got me thinking, what was the difference between a Belmont or Astra estate? Yeah it was a for door salon version on the mk2 astra Same really as the orion was a 4 door mk3 escort.
