In the process of dropping the engine out of my 1500 Allegro. Only things left are clutch, gear linkage and engine mounts.
Trying to disconnect the selector rod from the back of the transmission. It looks like a grub screw type arrangment then it will pull off but nothing I have fits it? 3mm allen is too big and 2.5 mm goes straight through, its really odd!
The hanyes manual just says its a self locking nut, will post a pic later.

IIRC this was just a roll pin that needed knocking out with a drift on my mini. There's a good chance its the same arrangement on an Allegro

Here is what the Haynes manual says, it's marked as number 1.
It's really odd how a 2.5mm hex key goes straight through it. If it's a dowel pin then its hollow which would make it quite weak?

HI, if you look at "2" that's a funny looking spring pin.

Indeed, number 3 look more like washers as well lol
I was surprised at how easy the drive shafts were to pop out, the Haynes manual shows the special horseshoe shaped tool but it took me about 20 seconds with a tyre lever, just popped straight out.

They had a tool for it to avoid the chance of damaging the gearbox casting if they were a bit stubborn.
The manual is obviously a mis-print.
