So if you've clicked on this, I'm guessing you know exactly what an ATX-1 (ATX Dh-Team in this case) is, and who Crawford Carrick-Anderson is.
From '98-'00, Giant campaigned their ATX-1 on the World Cup/World Championship circuit, under the expert control of the frankly insane Rob Warner, Myles Rockwell and, more locally, Clan rider Crawford. I was heavily into DH when I was 14-17ish (cars came along then), and the ATX-1, along with GT's Lobo and Raleigh's DHO, was my dream bike.
Fast forward to 2014 and this ATX DH-Team (possibly ex works, which is very exciting) turns up at the right price. It's not factory spec, but a few of the correct but hard to find bits (cranks, bar & stem etc) are there:
If you've ever tried to restore an old bike, you'll be aware that certain parts aren't exactly easy to come by. Luckily, I've a mate who restored one of these to '00 Rob Warner spec, which is amazing, and he has a fair few spare parts kicking about that I happen to need, mainly the rest of the AC chain device, which I thought would be made of finest unobtanium. Cue NOS Boxxer 151s, the correct D321CDs on red (not faded!) Hope Bulbs, NOS Rock Shox Super Deluxe rear shock, a lead on a set of NOS Hope C2s with Pro levers, and we're getting somewhere now.
This is it with my "normal" bike, my Foex FXR 2:1, resplendent with Curnutt with Ti spring:
