Hi! The missus needs a new car and she likes to sit higher, she likes to have an automatic transmission and she likes to have AWD. So now, after a lot of thinking, it came to this: Honda CR-V 2.0i AWD vs Mazda CX5 2.0i AWD, both with auto. This one or that one Which one would you take and why? Both are almost the same price, the same size, the same power, its not easy to choose for her. My choice would be this btw... but somehow I canĀ“t convince her... Lukas

Honda will hold its value better and will probably also be more reliable, not that the mazda will break down on you.
Drive both and see which you prefer.

I'd go mazda. After a couple of years all hondas end up with an unexplained funky smell...
Are the tax and insurance costs the same?

I've worked on several cx-5 and wouldn't recommend one to anyone, petrol or diesel.

CR-V all day long. For the record I've driven both. I was kinda hoping for something more along the lines of This or this

Hard to believe the the two in the OP are not the same car. I'd need to drive them to be able to make a decision. I think they would both look better without the strip of flashband around their flanks though.

Some days you just need to take a grinder to an inanimate object, just to make your day a tiny bit better!!

I have a 1st gen CRV, it's a really nice gentle drive (albeit not very exciting). As soon as it's modified nicely I'll start a thread on it, but it's very vanilla atm! They are very common though, always see them about on the road and there seems to be an endless supply on autotrader.
Don't know much about the Mazda tbh.
Early Rav4 isn't as nice looking as the CRV imo, but later versions are much nicer.

All wheels driven. High driving position. Automatic. Job done: Too thirsty? Boo-hoo. These are going up in value faster than they can guzzle dino-juice.

Reliability is needed too, so no RRC, thank you... She bought a 2010 Honda CR-V. Nice car, boring but relaxing to drive.

meh... if you need J 4WD, with plenty of presence on the road, you need to get a Nissan StageA, hmm, or maybe a Subaru Legacy...
