Hi all, my buddy has a vw camper t2 which has a wierd brake problem. When the accelerator is released,to slow for a roundabout or whatever it "auto brakes" the brakes come on when there is a lot of vacuum on over run. Drives fine when under power though only happens under deceleration. Is it servo do you think, some sort of stuck valve? Any help gratefully received. Cheers, Steve.

It's not something as simple as a sticky caliper is it? If it's binding a bit he might not notice it on power, but it will show as soon as he lifts off. Or an internal problem on a flexi - unless it's all four coming on.
If it is applying all the brakes on the overrun I'd start by checking the servo - possibly the air valve is stuck allowing vacuum to affect the diaphragm when it shouldn't

Have you tried the theory with vehicle 'wheels free' i.e. jacked up ?
Do brakes bind only with engine running ? and as you say part or closed throttle. Tried them with vac feed to servo disconnected or clamped ? If its the servo pulling brakes on....... i'd suspect servo itself, poss the large return spring inside is weak or has broken ?
