lent my jump start box out to a mate who now 3 monhts later cant find it!!! so looking around for a replacement and am seeing jump start packs the size of 2 fag packets that you charge up once and are ment to last 3 months. so is this the new teck or is it snake oil? they do seam to have some good reviews. they seam to be priced from 39-129 pounds so anyone used one?

Cant vouch for the ones you've seen, but my tool man has one the size of box of "young's" fish fingers. It started his 3.0 diesel van without an issue, has a usb port and can be charged through the cigarette lighter. It was £179 but had a lifetime warranty.

depends on what you are starting and how often, if you open up a tradition jump pack you might be surprised just how small the battery actually is, with new tech allowing high capacity batteries to be smaller then as long as you buy a decent brand high peak ampage one I can't see there being any problems.

Depends what battery is in them. If its a. L-ion it could well be up to the job. My car runs a 4ah l-ion pack that will put out over 200cca, plenty enough to give you a jump start! It weighs 900g.

I've got one of the normal ones, a Halfords one I bought because I had some shopping vouchers I won at work and it was that or Boots, and I'm not keen on toiletries. It doesn't take up a lot of space, but it has a compressor, an LED lamp, a cig lighter socket and a 3 pin household socket, and even after being in the boot for 6 months it fired up a mates dead car at work, and charges my phone time and again if I leave it plugged in in the boot. Hasn't gone dead yet, and was only £60.

mine was a halfords one as well a good bit of kit but the compressor broke and I thought the leads were a bit short. I have a cig socket in the boot wired to the lights so mine was kept charged. so how much power do you need to start a car? the cheap one iam looking at is 200amps with a max of 400 is this big enough?
