I had a bit of a look round a RWD Mk2 that turned up at the garage where I worked at time. Not sure what engine it had but it might have been a 2.8 V6 but it looked completely standard, even had pepperpots on in. The only thing that gave it away was a bit of differential casing poking out underneath. The guy who owned it said it was a bit exciting. I think the accelerator had turned into a backwards button !

Very, very nice project.
The two donor cars forming the basis of it are also an extremely good choice for giving a lot of bang for your buck.
Mk1 Fiestas may not be a common sight on UK roads anymore, but I believe that it is still relatively easy to get cosmetic panels etc for them at rewasonable cost.
The Volvo drivetrain is also an excellent choice. The standard axles are very well engineered and near unburstable, the M90 transmission is about the best standard manual fitment short of a T5 conversion, and the redblock motors strength in turbocharged form is legendary. I'd advise trying to pick up an Eaton G80 differential from a live-axled 3-litre 960 estate if at all possible which would really complete the drivetrain....they are cheap secondhand.
Although I also use a Volvo whiteblock motor in my car, they aren't nearly as thermally stable as the good old cast iron redblock units, which with very little work and expense can be putting out silly amounts of power and still retain good reliability. There is every bit as much potential output in a 2.3 Redblock motor as there is in even the larger capacity Whiteblocks.
You have probably already checked out 'Turbobricks' by the sound of it, but you should also put a build thread on there too for good advice on future engine development options.
Beautifiul fabrication and truly inspired parts choice.

why did you mount that engine in so damn high?
i think handling could benefit from a low centre of gravity, and the propshaft as straight as possible would also work better i think?
that said, your fabrication and welding look very nice, keep up the good work
