Demon Tweeks sell a product called Car Go thermo steel putty capable of high temperature use on exhaust manifolds etc. Looking for a product that will withstand very high temperature. Advertised as keep in your toolbox / handy for permanent roadside repairs involving high temperature objects. Might be handy as have an exhaust stud to replace soon as i can and a back up if it should blow when away from home. As anyone used this product ? Thanks in advance

If its easy to get at I would fix the stud you wont be able to fix it with putty cos as it heats up the gap will expand and the putty will fall out.....

I've extracted studs sheared off flush to the head before by making a great big gob of weld on tip then twisting out with a vice grips. The weld gives you something to grip and the intense heat breaks the bond between the steel stud and the head.

If it's temporary to 'get you home', I would just drive it without a stud in there. The putty will not be strong enough to hold the exhaust manifold on, but a bit of exhaust leak from the manifold face won't hurt anything for a day or two.

wanted for get you home back up exhaust not leaking at the moment need to free up cash to get job done first so having to use car but as had new manifold gasket recently and considered the product just to seal the edge should it leak before its repaired never noticed the stud missing as its tucked out of sight / last owner knew but didnt say / perils of buying car from unknown source and it was snowing / yeah no excuse and all the other good things about the car certainly does not detract from its goodness and all cars have one hidden fault if secondhand. Found out about exhaust stud after trawling hundreds of adverts to trace proper last owner not the trader / swapper i got it off. Turned out good news in one way as lots of parts fitted recently so not too upset about the missing stud. Seen a car where the seller said window switch don't work and behind door panel window jammed shut with wood. Thats second hand cars for you.Another year another challenge.

If it's not leaking, just keep driving it until you can fix it properly.
